I’m heading up to my first game of the year today. Fourth row behind first base, through my brother’s job. And we head in on the heels of a rarely-seen win!

A few days ago a kid who graduated three years behind me died when a tree fell on him. We don’t know any more than that.
Yesterday a kid two years behind me, with whom I was close in high school, died of cancer. It was only known to have come back a day or two before and it took him down quick. He was 38. It sucks.
We went to a party last night in celebration of one of our friends getting back to normal after surviving a brain aneurysm.
Last week we went to a memorial party for a good friend of mine, and former bowling teammate, who died of cancer. He was 35. If there's any good part of his cancer, it at least wasn't sudden. He was able to quit working 4-5 months ago and do a lot of traveling, get to a lot of baseball stadiums he hadn't been to and spend as much time as possible with his kids. But yeah, cancer sucks.
These are some of the reasons why I'm feeling pretty motivated to get out on my bike regularly. That, and seeing a picture of myself from eight years ago is giving a mild mid life crisis.
This season, Joe Mauer is averaging a walk and a hit per game (21 games, 21 hits, 21 walks)
Joe Mauer got a walk and a hit today.
I was at the game, and that’s most of the good news right there.
