I always think of rain as the original percussion instrument, and listening to a rainstorm pound out a solo on the roof has always been one of my favorite things. If I'm curled up with a quilt on the bed as I listen, so much the better. In the absence of rain, a good rock and roll drummer can fill the gap. I've always been partial to John Bonham and Nick Mason, with some latter days Phil Collins. How about you?

2. I'm not feeling this album yet. It's sounds more like the parts I've liked most from her music has been remixed and smeared away. But that's first impressions; I haven't tried hard.
4. "Season 4" Opening theme from Fullmetal Alchemist (the first series)
6. From the good (not great) UK Trip-hop label Cup of Tea, which went out of business when I was still buying their titles in 1998. Definitely a second-tier label behind leaders Ninja Tune (still in operation) and Pork (who could only survive so long once Fila Brazillia formed their own label).
8. This compilation is credited to "Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince", with "Jazzy Jeff in white letters with light blue outline on a white background. The song title shown is "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (Theme from NBC's The Fresh Prince of Bel Air)".
T. Later of the band "Eels".

That's a random sampling of everything I have digitally.
I know #1 as just "Roi", the French word pronounced more or less as /raw/.
The sole lyrics are "Raw: where the shot leaves me gagging for the arrow"
I need to put all of Last Splash on my device. I only have a couple of the songs on there and that's not nearly enough.
Jojo Meyer and Nerve's "Syncopath" reminds me of rain. Kinda.
Drummer/singers are of the devil though.
Especially if they play unholy 5/4 measures.
Mojave 3 was formed out of the ashes of Slowdive as Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell went off in search of their folk-rock selves after gazing at their shoes for so long. Worth a listen.

Twayn's headline immediately brought to mind this great old Delaney and Bonnie tune.
Bun E Carlos (1:07 mark on the clip). Dude looks like a math teacher, has a cigarette hanging out of mouth, drum fills everywhere. One of my faves.

My favorite part of Tusk is when, towards the end, you can Lindsey say, "Reeeeaaaaaallllll ssssssssavage like."
The giant sticks are a great touch.
Ireland doesn't get thunderstorms. The first real big one I got to watch roll in over the fields when I got home was a special treat.
Ditto Los Angeles. Mrs. Runner was fascinated watching one on the prairie build to the west and then roll over us.
I'd much rather watch a thunderstorm than visit Hawai'i. (Full disclosure, I've never been to Hawai'i.)
