The Twins are in first place. That's been true for a while, but what's notable about this week is that the projection systems are finally starting to believe.
For the first time all season, Fangraphs is giving the Twins a better chance at winning the division than the White Sox. FiveThirtyEight tipped a little earlier in the season, but the gap between the Twins and the White Sox is growing. All around, people are beginning to realize that #itshapp.....okay, no. Not gonna go there.
We're coming to the end of the soft spot in the schedule that the Twins have to capitalize on. After the Royals, we get a five game series with Detroit, then the work begins.
- Three at Toronto
- Three against New York
- Three against Tampa
- Three at Seattle
If they take care of business over the next six and gold their own against the East, that would go a long way toward makings things very difficult on the White Sox.
Today, it's four innings of Chris Archer vs. Brady Singer. Hopefully they do a bit better against Singer than they did last week. I don't know that they've got a six run comeback in them again today.
Buxton slowing down as he approaches a base looks like a car slamming the brakes on ice
I like Larnach a lot - nice to see his stats look like a major leaguer
Okay, the rally can start any time now...
Luis is raising his anemic BA today
His BA is 45 points higher and his OBP is almost 100 points higher than his 2021 season tallies. He's definitely the Twins breakout player of the year so far.
Righty vs righty, steady stream of curveballs -- Garlick never had a chance
Missed it by that much.
