I feel like this is the anti-Pirate option where most squares were the most popular.
Benintendi 50% - Santana 49% - Greinke 97%
Beltré 19% - Lee 10% - Hernández 58%
X - Kluber 25% - Ryan 86%
I missed on my first guess. Saberhagen topped out at 193 strikeouts.
does it get boring when it's this easy for you? 🙂
Ha, I just like running through old baseball cards in my mind. Plus, too many years of playing Diamond Mind (especially seasons in the 1970s) have stuck some names in my mind
I think this is the best form of Remembering Some Guys that I’ve come across short of pulling out an old box of cards.
It would be a fun challenge to try and use the percentages as a secondary score where lowest combined total (most obscure) is the goal.
That is basically my goal each day. I try not to hit the obvious ones unless I'm fairly stumped. Remembering Some Guys is truly one of the greatest activities.
Same. I only pick obvious ones if I can't think of obscure ones.
K. Brett 0.08 | Mesa | Appier 2
Slocumb 4 | Sexson 4 | Big Unit 37
Beltré 16 | J. Franco 2 | Ryan Express 86
Misremembered the top middle column, which was my last, while walking to a conference session and answered José Mesa because I thought it was SEA + CLE and didn’t double check my index.
Reggie 14 - Klink 0.004 - Collins 1
Kevin Brown 0.3 - Jarvis Brown 0.008 - Rickey 2
Raffy 20 - Killer 52 - Mays 9
Great minds! Doubled the percentage on your Twin/A
Just pulled into New Ulm, and the locals may be frustrated no one is picking a slightly more obvious choice
Huh. Only 3% for him.
One of his grown relatives comes into the shop pretty often. Amusingly, he has no interest in sports and only buys Pokémon cards.
In the same vein, Jimmy Kleinsasser’s kids only buy basketball cards. (Also, his legal name is Jimmy; that one made me smile)
Just goes to show it's impossible to predict if your kids are going to like what you like (or even care if you're famous for something). I was in every sport except hockey and football when I was young (and played them regularly with my friends anyway) and my kids have zero interest in any and all sports. They hate the music I like. It's a bummer sometimes, but it's also good that they have cool things they're into that I learn about. And they like me anyway.
Opted for classic Twin over Thome. 90% sure I correctly guessed Reggie was with Baltimore because of seeing someone else's Immaculate Grid answer here previously.
The stats for today say 94% of people got Padres/3000 hits while Gwynn has 96%. Likewise A's/3000 hits has 89% accuracy but Rickey! is also at 96%. So the percentages must be percentage of correct answers because if it was out of all answers, the accuracy would be at least 96% for both instead of both below.
So they likely fluctuate depending on when one attempts their grid?
They do indeed.
spooky and I picked the same players in a couple spots and have slightly different percentages.
Don Baylor 0.4% | Billy Beane 0.9% | Nap Lajoie 0.5%
Ramón Hernández 0.1% | Brian Buchanan 0.04% | Rickey! 1%
Reggie 3% | Killer 52% | Eddie Murray 2%
Even coming out of an era where 500 homers & 3000 hits feels a bit less special, Eddie Murray must be the most anonymous guy with those in the last star row on his baseball card.
For comparison, Pirate got 22% for Colon while I got 21%. I've seen shifts of +/- 2% so far but I overall agree.
Edit: It seems the scores will update if you go back during the day. My rarity score has ballooned up a point to 534.
the other day Pirate picked Joe Klink and got 0.04 and I picked him a few minutes later and got 0.09. He was probably the first to pick him and I was the second, lol
Tried to go for rare, and got burned. Wasted too many wrong guesses on Cubs 20 game winners. Also, I could have sworn LeCroy played in Chicago for a short time, but guess not.
These submissions bright to you primarily by the early 90s.
Alexander 1 - Magee 0.02 - Fidrych 8
Crime Dog 6 - Stocker 2 - Hellickson 5
Bell 2 - Allen 0.6 - Big Mac 12
Leibrandt (2) -- Tartabull (1) -- Gordon (27)
A. Pena (.09) -- John (2) -- XXX
Niekro (5) -- Unit (23) -- Maddux (81)
Never tried LA Gold Glove. Got dinged on trying Lorenzo Cain for gold glover. He definitely should have gotten one with Kansas City in 2013. Worth almost 3 wins on defense.
Eddie Gaedel!
Satchel Paige
Also, I'm pretty sure Earl Webb (the doubles guy) was a Brown. That's about all I've got
In case anyone was wondering, I tested previous versions of Baltimore Orioles teams that are not connected with the current franchise and those answers were not accepted.
IMMACULATE!
🟩🟩🟩 Eric Davis 3% | Tim Raines 1% | George Sisler 2%
🟩🟩🟩 Ryan Ludwick 4% | The Kid 34% | Frank Robinson 3%
🟩🟩🟩 Mark Mulder 9% | Ray Durham 1% | Al Simmons 5%
I find these are pretty fun to think about over the course of the day. Sisler was a gamble, not knowing how a previous iteration of a franchise is counted.
I didn’t have anyone for CIN+CHW other than The Kid or Big Donkey, and thought maybe Griffey’s time on the South Side was less persistent in minds than his other stops.
Andre Dawson (TL) only at 0.7! Took me ages to come up with him: I’ve been fighting with this on and off all day. Cecil Cooper, to the right, was second to last. All the others came easy.
Copper was 4%, GoGo below him was 13 and Yount below him was 12. Yount is low every time; I suppose people are picking Molitor.

You have good company on guess 3. I grumbled out loud when it just missed.
Mine was guess 2. Total “psych!” moment.
For the grid, does the percentages reflect all guesses or just correct guesses?

They do indeed.
