If you're still surviving this year's Whamageddon, you're on the home stretch. Also, Santa's still checking his lists...

Estrellas did not play yesterday.
Caribes had a doubleheader with Margarita. In the first game, Margarita scored four in the first and cruised to an 8-3 victory. Willians Astudillo was 1-for-2 and drove in a run. Kevin Vicuna hit a home run, his third. Gabriel Yanez (2-2) took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits in a third of an inning.
Caribes came back to win the nightcap 9-3 on the strength of a six-run second. Willians Astudillo was 0-for-4, but apparently was not needed. Balbino Fuenmayor was 3-for-4. Starter Liarvis Brito pitched 3.1 innings, giving up three runs on two hits and two walks and striking out two. Cristian Hernandez (2-1) was the winner, giving up only a walk in a scoreless inning.
I lost last Saturday during the Justice's soccer practice. I was reading about a DJ who played Last Christmas at halftime of an English soccer game (I think in the Championship, but maybe League One) who was receiving death threats because he singlehandedly cost thousands of people their chance of winning. (I see now this is referenced in the Wiki link.)
I heard "Last Christmas" a couple days ago but it wasn't Wham!'s version, so still alive! I've joked with Mrs Runner that we should do any travelling in separated cars to improve our survival chances.
I heard it a couple times before December 1st, but I think everyone stopped playing the original once Whamegeddon started.
If you can't recognize the song at all, does that still count?
I don't think you're officially "playing" if you don't know the song. Feel free to substitute another, I guess -- a Mariahpocalypse of sorts.
I've been mostly Wham!-free this year, which I think is great.
My daughter's been playing Sia's Christmas album (2018, not sure why it seems "new"), and that one has some real earworms on it.
Happy holidays, everyone!
Thanks for the tale and reflection, Twayn. My dad had some kind of septic blockage a couple-few years ago now and it was indeed a truly awful ordeal, which he no-doubt downplayed as long as he could...as one does.
Take care.
I had an uncle who had some sort of emergency abdominal surgery years ago, probably about 1984, right before Christmas.
I remember it mostly because he was in medical practice with my grandfather, who was then 88, IIRC. And who had to deliver a couple babies that holiday week.
Happy holidays, Twayn. Enjoy your personal miracle.
Also, came here today that I'm seeing meme-takes on the new flag and am really, really enjoying Minnesota's creative and creatively-cynical sense of humor.
A few samples:
What a great bounce back win over the Lakers tonight. This is such a fun team.
I was feeling a little nervous when the Wolves just couldnt get a double digit lead in the 4th.
But got a win that we should get, no one was hurt. Move on to Saturday
Awoooooo
