I've assumed you could do it because I've done it with unsuccessful words but I was thinking this is the first time I've seen it with one of the answers.
I've never tried for hint words. It's always felt inelegant and we've never needed to cross the streams to get an answer. Feels a bit like the "no plurals" "rule" in Wordle: something that seems true but has never been spelled out.
Talking to a friend and looking at Reddit discussion board, cross streams have been accepted as "hint words" but never came up as an answer. Speculation that since Strands is in Beta, doing some experimenting to see reaction, how it works, etc.

Found out recently that some people immediately shuffle the words to not be tricked by the ordering. I like the original order's jokes or misdirections so I never shuffle.
Have been playing daily but not sharing for a while, but had to post this.
I’ve been using the same first guess for Wordle (and really for all word games) seemingly forever. Now that it’s hit, I don’t know whether to switch it up or stick with what I’m used to.
I’ve been pondering this, and the thing I’m stuck on is that I’ve developed a lot of efficiency in my guess strategies. For instance, if my first guess comes up with nothing, I always do YOUTH as my next one. If there is an I but not in the middle spot, I go with FINCH. So it would feel daunting to go with a wildly different word.
Still building out my understanding of borders in Central & West Africa. Prior to the addition of the Perfect score feature, I would sometimes work backward from the destination or outward from a known point to find the shortest route. Now I’m trying to always start from the origin, and that’s eliminated my other strategies. But I think it’s a great innovation in the game.
I honestly have never looked at the colors by my guesses, I should probably try that
I tend to start at whichever end I'm more familiar with and go that way, and generally I don't work from both ends towards the middle.

Okay, full disclosure, I saw Mike got a 1/6. I didn't know that was his usual starter word, but I thought the answer was probably one of the more common starters, so I went with one and boom.
I also saw his 1/6 but not until after I put in my word. I thought he had ARISE so I was working through other options and organically thought of RAISE so I went with that expecting a 50/50 of getting it right.
Not sure what I could have done more perfectly. Do I need to guess them in order?
Yep; the new “Perfect” feature distinguishes between guessing them in correct order from origin to destination and guessing all the right countries, but not in order.

I figured I wasn't going to get it since I knew four _OVER words for two guesses.
I go back and forth on how much I like it. In the end, I'd say I do.
The infinite guesses, and earning the hints, soften the blow of getting everything wrong.
I don't think I've used any tips since the first time I played. Don't know why, but I try to avoid them. I do use as many right/wrong words as necessary trying to figure out the theme, but I don't cash them in.
