Very sad news yesterday that Laurie Lindeen of Zuzu's Petals died unexpectedly. Laurie started the beloved and pioneering Minneapolis band Zuzu's Petals in the late 80's that led the way to other women-led bands. Laurie was a great writer, mentor to other bands, and was beloved in the Minneapolis music community. She will be missed.

Just heartbroken about Laurie’s passing. I met Colleen from Zuzu’s at a mutual friend’s wedding when we were in college. She told me that she would soon be moving to Minneapolis to start a band with a HS friend, even though she had never picked up a musical instrument at that time. That friend was Laurie. And even though they were terrible in the beginning (like awful), I supported them because they were my friends. A more out of tune band you’d never hear. They eventually turned into a pretty decent little outfit. I shared a lot of laughs (and beers) with those gals during those band years. Laurie was smart as a whip, funny as hell, and had the classic beauty of a of a 40’s Hollywood star. She would come to open houses at my studio over the years and I would always enjoy our chats. Man, she could just light up a room.
Thanks for that remembrance Bootsy. I was pretty sure you knew Laurie and Colleen. It's just weird, I follow Laurie on social media and she was posting over the weekend.
I know! I had posted a few English Teacher vids in the past few weeks on FB that she had ❤️ed. She was always so complimentary of my artwork, as well. As a mutual friend remarked yesterday, “She was a good egg.” Was she ever.
The world seems a bit crueler today.
