Minor Details: Games of May 31

OMAHA STORM CHASERS 5, ST. PAUL SAINTS 2 IN OMAHA

M. J. Melendez hit a two-run homer in the fourth to put Omaha in front 3-2.  St. Paul stranded eleven and went 1-for-13 with men in scoring position.  Jose Miranda was 3-for-5 with a double.  Ryan Fitzgerald was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his fifth.  Andrew Morris pitched five innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks and striking out two.  Randy Dobnak struck out four in three innings, giving up one run on three hits.

TULSA DRILLERS 6, WICHITA WIND SURGE 5 IN WICHITA (10 INNINGS)

Tulsa led 3-1 and 5-4, but Ezequiel Pagan homered in the seventh to tie it 5-5 and singled home the deciding run in the tenth.  Wichita stranded thirteen and was 2-for-17 with me in scoring position.  Kala'i Rosario was 2-for-3 with a home run (his fifth), two walks, and two RBIs.  Andrew Cossetti was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fourth), a walk, and two RBIs.  Gabriel Gonzalez was 2-for-6 with a double and a run.  Trent Baker struck out seven in 4.2 innings, but gave up four runs on four hits and a walk.  John Stankiewicz pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk and striking out one.  Cody Laweryson pitched two innings, giving up an unearned run on two hits and striking out one.

CEDAR RAPIDS KERNELS 3, LAKE COUNTY CAPTAINS 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Kyle DeBarge hit a two-run homer in the third to put the Kernels up 2-0, and they led the rest of the way.  Lake County had men on second and third with two out in the ninth, but a foul out ended the game.  DeBarge was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his fifth.  Chase Chaney pitched six innings, giving up one run on six hits and no walks and striking out one.

FORT MYERS MIGHTY MUSSELS 11, TAMPA TARPONS 1 IN TAMPA

Fort Myers scored five in the third, three of them on a double by Jefferson Valladares, and that was more than enough.  It was 6-1 through seven, but Fort Myers added two in the seventh and three in the eighth.  The Mussels had just seven hits, but drew five walks and took advantage of four Tampa errors.  Dameury Pena was 1-for-4 with a home run (his third), a walk, two runs, and three RBIs.  Dasan Hill struck out five in three shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  Michael Ross struck out eight in five innings of relief, giving up one run on five hits and no walks.  Hunter Hoopes struck out two in a perfect inning.

FCL RED SOX 3, FCL TWINS 1 AT RED SOX (6 INNINGS)

Franyer Noria hit a two-run double in the fifth to break a 1-1 tie.  The Twins had three hits in the game.  Joel Garcia pitched 4.1 innings, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk and striking out four.
