i want to give a big thank you to AMR. another great installment in a great line of DJ weeks. well done, good sir. everything wasn't my cup o' tea, but i believe that's the point of DJ weeks, and the WGOM videos in general.
anyway, i believe he expressed regret that he wasn't able to get to the meat puppets, and i was sad he didn't get to it either. well, based on my research, classic MP performances are hard to come by on the YT, but here's one:

AMR, if you've got more, i'd love you to throw some more up below.
Last April I saw the MeatPuppets at the 400 Bar and was right in front of the stage. I had my camera and was doing some video. During Up On the Sun my battery died!!! They proceeded to have this long extended jam session at the end with Chris Kirkwood yelping into the microphone. I was so pissed I almost had it on tape for posterity. Sorry it would have been a great video post.
I didn't search for videos for them. I'm surprised there aren't many: they seem to welcome bootleggers. Their only video release was a collection from bootleg fan videos (including 1994 Roy Wilkins — opening for Stone Temple Pilots — my first-ever concert!). Their drummer emeritus maintains a website that frequently releases demos, radio sessions, b-sides, compilation tracks, and bootlegs whenever he can find them.
I would have tried to find a video of "Station", one of the Cris-composed tracks from Too High to Die. When I saw them newly reunited in 2007, that version of the song seemed to be especially cathartic for the brother who had spent a decade falling apart. It's track 11 here.
damn you. the mere mention of "station" now assures that that lick will be stuck in my head. i'll be the idiot whistling that regularly for the next 12 hours.
