d'oh! i was thinking beach volleyball, which is definitely the inferior one.
NBC has decided it's time for me to watch (parts of) the match. gym volleyball is so much better.
anyone else kinda have a thing for kim yeon-koung?
EDIT: of course, i hadn't really noticed jaque before...
word is that they interrupt the firs set for an important Ryan Seacrest report on teh Twitters. I can't wait to experience it out here, now that the Very Special Special on World War II has concluded. Really, NBC? We needed that shit instead of sports coverage during the first HOUR of prime time coverage?
I hate NBC with the fire of a billion suns.
they played the last half of the first set, went to that nonsense, then came back with the last 5 minutes of the 4th set. enjoy.
oh, there's some mary carillo piece about shakespeare that's extremely relevant to the olympics. or something.
I hate NBC with the fire of a billion suns.
And Kobe?
NBC knows what's best for you. Haven't you seen the commercials for their fall comedies? Watch them fast, they won't be around for long.
Some interesting trivia. In the first ever modern pentathlon in Stockholm in 1912, George S. Patton competed and placed fifth overall.
Speaking of generals, Michael Collins competed in the 1908 Olympics in discus.
if i recall correctly, patton won a medal in fencing. also, he designed the saber that is still used by... one of the military branches.
SR.com only has Patton down as a pentathlete. Looks like he got 4th for the fencing portion of that.

i stand corrected on the first part. however, i'm relatively sure on the second part.
i forgot to press "mail your letter!". slipping in my old age...
You can also tab from the input box to focus on the 'Mail your Letter' button and then press the space bar. Hands never have to leave the keyboard!
I use tab->enter for the same effect. It's practically habit now. It's very handy once you get it down.
He might have medaled if he could only have shot straight.
Ooh, Mexico 2-1 over Brazil in mens olympic soccer gold. Mags, you can't be too happy about that.
I know it's like saying the White Sox are poised to control the AL Central for years to come, but that Mexican Club is good and young. They are definitely up and coming team and could do some damage in Brazil 2014.
Yeah, the young and upcoming Mexican players will be a force to be reckoned with for awhile, I think.
I'm not too confident in our guys against them, especially after that last Gold Cup final.
I had a near death experience on the commute Thursday. This wasn't an isolated incident. I decided that the commute and job are not worth the grey hairs and road rage and so I quit. The folks weren't surprised, and hired their second choice. I'm training my replacement, which is totally fine with me.
You gotta do what you gotta do. This one obviously wasn't the one then
Yaaaagh. Sorry to hear that meat.
I saw man folks texting and driving, but the lady that almost got me was putting on make up. I'm pretty sure there's a job closer to home. That and the price of gas just went up 25 cents a gallon.
Sounds like you made a wise decision. Hang in there. As Ring Lardner once wrote, the only thing funnier than how things don't work out sometimes is how they do.
damn, i was just about to post this. yes, AMR, the youngun should be appeased tomorrow. of course (since it's his choice), it's up to gardy to put him in the lineup.
One of those infielders needs a day off! C'mon Gardy, make HPR's year!
this is both hilarious and sad. 3-on-3 is a lot of fun to play, but if it's not make-it, take-it, ....
Word to cheaptoy:
This cheapbeer is bitchin'!!!!
It has a nice, soft mouthfeel, almost like a porter, a hint of Russian Imperial Stout on the nose and front-end of the flavor profile, but finishes smooth and clean. My only complaint is that I only have two 🙁
the decision to put track and field announcer Tom Hammond in a tracksuit made my night.
I am so pleased that NBC found the time in their Olympic coverage for a one-hour special on WWII. WTF??
They couldn't run this crap at midnight?
i had the insufferable mary carillo telling me that shakespeare was a kind of importany dude in england for 10 minutes.
They wanted my kids to miss out on Mo Farah's second medal, as they so enjoyed his first, and this would bee too much for them.
Eff it. I waited until 11:30 to see the gold medal match in women's volleyball, and NBC can't even show the majority of the match? Thanks for nothing. You suck, NBC. You really suck.
I'm rewatching the primetime show now.
That mannish woman from SA had a ton left in the tank on that 800. She made her move too late. I think 9 times out of ten she wins that race.
I wish there was a Hurdles relay. I want to see Kellie Wells again. I think she was my favorite athlete from this Olympics.
I watched the NBC collection of highlights. Americans, Brits, Bolt, and the Dominican and Grenadan who won their races are the only athletes we care about. No love for Badminton. The men's solo final was epic according to my Malaysian co-worker, who woke up early to watch it live. Lee Chong Wei is apparently the constant underdog to Lin Dan: he can never beat Lin in an important match, but otherwise is as much the player as the worlds' #1. Lee won the first set and had a good advantage in the second, only to blow it.
Woke up on my buddy's couch at 5:30. I'm gonna need a nap today.
Better check your face in the mirror, buddy. You may have grown a Magic Marker mustache overnight.
thankfully telemundo is broadcast over the air in chicago. at least someone is showing the final match.
I am equally thrilled to not be allowed to see the women's volleyball final live.
dude, wasn't that a couple of days ago?
No.

The Model 1913 Cavalry Saber, a/k/a "The Patton Sabre"
i am partially correct.

Plouffe planned to be back with the Twins on Monday. Seems like Nishioka will still be with the Twins on Sunday AMR.

Another chance for Juicy.
So, you want to be taken seriously? Don't use Comic Sans.
Just changed my resumé font to Baskerville. It was already Georgia, but I'll take anything I can get to help at this point.
Maybe I'm talking myself into this, but my CV does look a lot classier now.
my "business" font is garamond. it gets the job done.
It's Good comeback for McKayla, who is not impressed.
FIBA wants three-on-three basketball added for Rio.

Oh, and we care about Mexican Soccer.
