2011 Game Logs Game 60: Winners @ Losers

Assuming the Twins continue winning games at the rate they have in their past 5 games for the next 12 games , they will bring their winning streak to 17 consecutive games.  Minnesota then, coupled with every other team losing each of its games other than when they play each other (Detroit wins two of three at home against Cleveland next week), will be playing for sole possession of first place on Tuesday, June 21st, the first day of summer, against the San Francisco Giants.  It will be a fitting passing of the guard when the Twins then sweep the  defending World Champion Giants, extending their winning streak to 20 games.

What a great first day of summer it will be.

  1. No Span tonight. Having the same type of dizziness issues he had a couple of years back. He's heading to see the Twins doctors tonight. I am a bit concerned about they will (or will not) find out.

  2. The Boy is testing for his (adult) brown belt in Kenpo karate tonight, so I won't be around. I'll have him break a board for the Twins....

  3. I sense an impending offensive explosion (1 run) from our boys this inning...

    1. Out after 80 pitches? I assume due to his injury - hopefully it's just being cautious rather than responding to a recurrence.

  4. I haven't even had a chance to watch Gameday when Chuck James has been pitching.
Look at they guy's mugshot. He's so happy to be back in the bigs, retiring everyone he faces.

      1. Walks don't count in batting average. Chuck James scoffs at your newfound statistics such as "Plate Appearances." Chuck James only cares about At-Bats.

That, and sometimes Blue's just wrong.

  5. 32 LTEs in 2 hours on a tuesday? looks like we're drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.

    1. These 6:00 start times are tough for me since I didn't get home until about 6:15 today, then had to make dinner. So I blame that.

    1. I remember one year I voted for Cano but no other Yankees; I gave serious consideration to who deserved to be there. He was one of three Yankees not to start. It's pointless. I don't think I've bothered to vote since.

  6. Dumatrait looks like the guy who cleans up roadkill for the county. Pitches like him, too.

    1. Fortunately, it actually appears to be Butera, Tolbert, Revere..... I has a sad.

      Garr, Gameday defeated me.

  7. Chris Perez needs to cut his hair. I hope the Twins smack him around. I think they need about 15 runs here to be Capps proof.

  8. I just tuned in on the radio. Was Cuddy as upset as Atterbery made him sound?

      1. i think the outburst was more due to his own frustration rather than the actual pitch though.

    1. yeah, most likely. it was close enough where i blame cuddy more than the ump.

    2. Yes.

He looked pretty intimidating there with his face in the ump's face and his bat in his hand.

It could've gone Offerman but Cuddy came back to his senses pretty quickly.

    3. His initial reaction to the call was pretty boisterous, but he got himself under control quick enough.

    1. The Twins might not be in first place until the end of the month at this rate.

  9. CT, at least you have the Heat to root against tonight.

    1. Thanks. 9 am here on the left coast. Hopefully a win will get my day off to a good start.
