LA GUAIRA 8, ANZOATEGUI 2 IN LA GUAIRA

TwinsEduardo Escobar (Anzoategui) was 0-for-2 with two walks.  Bruce Pugh (Anzoategui) pitched a third of an inning, giving up one hit but no runs.

Game summary:  La Guaira led 3-2 after four, then scored five runs over the next three innings.

Anzoategui:  Gustavo Molina hit a double, scored once, and drove in one.

La Guaira:  Salvador Perez (Kansas City) was 3-for-5 with a home run, scoring twice and driving in three.  Cesar Suarez was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

MAGALLANES 3, ARAGUA 0 IN ARAGUA

TwinsOswaldo Arcia (Aragua) was 1-for-4.  Deolis Guerra (Magallanes) struck out six in three shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks.

Game summary:  Magallanes scored all three runs in the second when Francisco Cervelli (Yankees) tripled in two and then scored on a single.

Magallanes:  Sergio Perez struck out six in five innings, giving up six hits and two walks.  Chris Nowak was 2-for-4 with a double.

Aragua:  Jorge Rondon (St. Louis) worked three shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks.  Joey Gathright was 2-for-3.

CARACAS 5, ZULIA 4 IN ZULIA

TwinsDarin Mastroianni (Zulia) was 1-for-3.

Game summary:  Trailing 5-2 in the ninth, Zulia scored twice and got the tying run on base with one out.

Caracas:  Thad Weber (San Diego) struck out seven in five shutout innings, giving up three hits and three walks.  Franklin Gutierrez (Seattle) was 3-for-4 with a double and scored twice.

Zulia:  Jose Flores was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk and scored once.  Evan Gattis (Atlanta) walked and hit a two-run homer.

LARA 6, MARGARITA 3 IN LARA

Game summary:  Lara took a 6-0 lead after four.  Margarita scored all three runs in the eighth.

Margarita:  Javier Brito was 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run homer.  Frank Diaz was 2-for-4 and scored once.

Lara:  Chris Jakubauskas struck out six in seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk.  Paulo Orlando (Kansas City) was 4-for-5 and scored twice.
