Melbourne: Kevin Reese struck out seven in seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk. Carlo Testa (Kansas City) was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and scored twice.

Game summary: Trailing 3-0 after six, Perth scored once in the seventh and got four in the eighth. Brisbane came back with one in the bottom of the eighth and had the tying run on second in both the eighth and ninth.
