February 28, 2013: Flashback

This January 23rd Co'C draft post looked so good, I decided to show it the light of day.

And since Spooky is listed as the author, I could put all kinds of fun stuff here. Suck it, Nibbish!

        1. What's the difference? Banging one off the wall for a solid double compared to hitting a single and reaching second on a throwing error?

                1. I believe that would still be scored as one single in the AB with a one base error, no? I'm trying to say it is impossible to officialy acquire two hits in on PA, while it is possible to acquire two fetuses in one BA (bed appearance).

                  I might be over-thinking this.

                    1. Is it possible for one egg to be fertilized in one session, then another in a separate session? If that can happen, then I've been arguing from a position of biological ignorance.

                    2. Cheap, I believe it can happen. Because I am pretty sure it's biologically possible for a woman to have fraternal twins with two different fathers.

                    3. Well I'll be damned. Per the repository, its called Superfecundation.

In that case, please everyone forget anything I have added to this conversation.

    1. Not sure where to go:
      1. This is so much better than Tom Brady, whose child was born a traitor.
      2. Good thing he never married that princess, or he'd've needed a trade to KC.
      3. Washington Pro Football team joke.

  1. There are a few SBG fantasy baseball notes:

Two teams are currently unclaimed; the Madison Muskies and the Tricycle Frogs. If these are you teams, please join the league or let me know that you want to drop out. My email is robzk at the yahoo.

Second, the survey for stat categories will be closing tomorrow, and we don't have enough votes to change the categories yet. If you want to weigh in on this and haven't, please vote! The survey link is on the league homepage.

      1. I can confirm the Muskies are CH's team, unless there's another Madison based WGOM'er I don't know about.

      2. I have heard back from DK and he is rejoining the league. I have an email out to CH, so hopefully we can get everything set for keeper selection.

        1. I heard back from CH and he's going to sit this year out. If there is anyone interested in taking over his team, let me know by the end of the day (address above). Otherwise, I'll scrap the team and we can move forward with the stat categories and keeper selections.

    1. Related (though not as funny), the NYTimes has an interesting video in which a guy compares posted calorie counts with actual calorie counts for a variety of foods. Turns out some of the posted calorie counts are significantly lower than the actual calories.

      1. I am a big believer in Subway sandwiches. Not the bad ones, the good ones. My go to is the whole wheat chicken breast 6" no cheese: lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, green peppers, jalapenos, mustard and black pepper. I like it and it's low fat and low calories. Probably about 380 calories. A bag of apples and a diet soda. Lunch.

        1. I'm with you there. I prefer the 6" turkey and cheese with green peppers and lettuce, and I save on calories by only topping with pepper and a shot of vinegar. Diet soda, but I can't eat raw apples (allergy) so I choose a low-fat chips selection.

        2. As long as your blood pressure is good, Subway's not a bad option. But the sodium content is higher than you might think. Not through the roof high like, say, Chipotle, but still up there, especially in the cold cuts, turkey and tuna. I've been getting the low-sodium turkey breast at Target and making my own sandwiches for lunch lately. I'm also trying to avoid the diet Dr. Pepper, drinking iced tea at home with just one soda a day at lunch. And yes to fruit, lots of fruit. Apples, oranges, grapes, and bananas mostly.

          1. I've actually reviewed the sodium content and cut out the banana peppers because they didn't do much for me, except add sodium. Of the fast food options, it's the best. I have been buying low sodium turkey at Costco for my daily non-fast food meals.

          2. i just can't get into eating any substantial amount of fruit. i have no interest in it. i'll destroy a mess of vegetables, but can't bring myself to eat an apple.

  2. I love ambulance chasing lawyer adverts.
"if you or someone you know have experienced sudden cardiac death...."

    1. I'm up late most nights and I usually watch bad TV while putzing around on my computer or doing homework or whatever. All of those 1-800-BAD-DRUG commercials are the most horrible, frightening things. The scary music they use? Some of the procedures they are asking about ("transvaginal mesh" doesn't sound terribly pleasant for example)... man. I imagine they get a lot of calls, too. Awful, awful.

    2. I chuckled yesterday at a billboard for this Friday's release of "The Last Exorcism: Part 2." The subtitle should be, "No, this time it really is the last one."

    1. Despite May, Twins pitchers had 7 Ks and 4 BBs. O's pitchers had 3 Ks and 5 BBs. Really nice to see Hendriks do well. I think a lot of people had given up on him prematurely.

  3. Looks like the school down the street is poaching off some A10 programs and screwing over GW. At least the U had the decency to let NDSU play (and beat) them in football a few times unlike the big DC bully who is too chicken to play anyone (not only GW, but they also have been ducking College Park Community College for a couple of decades).

    1. Too chicken to play anyone? In their current win streak they've beaten the #24, #5, #18 and #8 ranked teams. Their non-conference games included the #1, #10 and #11 ranked teams (#11 was cancelled). And they played American, so they went for a local team too. You're just trying to pick a fight here, aren't you?

Also, my uncle teaches at Xavier, and until I went to GULC, they were my team. Nice to see 'em moving up to the big leagues. πŸ˜‰

  4. the Minnesota Wild are playing Phoenix tonight. The Wild are in second place in the NW division Phoenix is last in the Pacific, yet the Coyotes have more points. oof

also, the Wild are dead last in the NHL in goals scored with 39. eeek
