Last night I got home from work and found out that tonight's shift had, since I left, been changed to this morning. My manager has several positive qualities, but "remembering to tell people when their next-day schedules are changed dramatically" is not one of them.

So basketball. This is an amazing series. I thought Ginobili was done and he might still be, but last night was vintage Manu. Danny Green has made an incredible deal with the Devil and if SA wins, he's the Finals MVP. LBJ missed bunnies all over the place, but ultimately, this was the Spurs at their absolute best, just beating the Heat. If the series holds form, the Heat win game six and game seven, if it comes, is going to be epic.
Even though the games have largely been blowouts, this has been a very entertaining series. The league must be giddy, although I'm sure they'd like some closer games.
The Astros ended up with Appel anyways, but you know what? They should have drafted Buxton last year.
Nice!
Tomorrow is the Midwest League's All-Star game. I suspect Buxton's final Low-A game will be that one.
that should read "should of drafted", no?
avoid controversy and use "shoulda"
Kids Wish Network is the worst.
The order is a bit misleading, isn't it? It's ranked by total $$ given to solicitors, not the total % of $$.
Maybe, but to be clear, there are no good options on that list.
agreed
Bad British Baseball commentary has been floating around the webs this weekend. I found it pretty amusing

The best part about this case is that the plaintiff is not who you would expect from the headline.
Wouldn't being on a deck with no railing with drunken frat boys also be considered stupid and dangerous activities?
that is a quality headline.
If it had been the guy lighting the fireworks, I guess it could been said that he, uh, ass-umed the risk.
where is that "Boo. This. Man" gif???
You know, Bob Kraft has the ultimate cocktail party story here. Just get another ring made and tell people about the time the president of Russia stole the first one.
This is the kind of thing that starts wars...

No help from lickshpittle there.
I'm getting the intro to "Hurt" figured out. Both hands, too. A slightly exciting new development.
The chorus is harder. I have to span an entire octave with my right hand. My hands are big enough, but the aren't really flexible enough.
Keep working at it, Mags. It's worth it.
So, the Celtics are on the verge of blowing the team up. KG likely to end up in LA with the Clippers, along with Doc Rivers and maybe even Paul Pierce.
I'll admit: I read this looking for a who said it:
It would be like swimming the English Channel 14 times in 13 years and then never doing it again.
Got a nice anniversary surprise today. The Inland Empire 66ers were giving away free tickets to tonight's Angels-Mariners game. Just had to show up at the box office in time to claim tickets. So, we got four free tickets to the game. Up in the nosebleed, but I won't complain about free tickets (other than the cost of parking and gas to drive to Anaheim). Good thing we chose to go out for lunch for our anniversary instead of dinner.
kewl. And happy anniversabirthday!

the blackhawks game is not on national TV. nor is it on any local channels in the chicago area. seriously?
it is on NBC Sports. Because they apparently don't care about growing their brand, or don't have the clout to make NBC preempt re-runs.
again, not national or local TV even in chicago.
when the NHL deal was signed, hockey was still on Versus and NBC lost viewers when hockey (even the Stanley Cup games) where on. so having the games on cable made sense. But NBC is in the outhouse, and probably having a Cup game on network wins the night.
But, how come the game isnt available on the local Chicago and Boston NBC stations is a good question.
Hockey still is on Versus, in a way, since Versus is now NBCSports. Your point about why not on local TV is interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some regulation about airing things over the air and on cable at the same time.
its done in the NFL when games are on ESPN or NFL Network. I believe its now KARE 11 that simulcasts the Vikings national broadcast games.
Yeah, now that you mention it, football does it all the time. So then there's no good reason not to.
I believe the game is streamed on NBCs website
oh, wait, that's streaming? still my point stands.
of course the feed isn't actually working...
you forgot to tag that #NBCfail
oh, that's why i can't watch. i don't have cable. eff you, NBC.
I was just going to comment how well Frankie Liriano is doing tonight, then he gives up a HR that went about 750 feet.
On the Twins website, it looked like Willingham must have been having vision problems. The headline:
had the line break just as I show it there. (Link)
