Mexicali: Christhian Presichi was 2-for-3 and scored once. Luis Suarez was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Guasave: Kalian Sams was 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run homer, his third. Jesus Cota was 2-for-4 with a triple. Juan Delgadillo pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
The game: Sams clubbed his three-run homer in the first inning to give Guasave a 3-0 lead. Mexicali got two in the top of the third to make it 3-2, but Guasave scored single runs in the third and fourth to go up 5-2. Mexicali tallied once in the ninth but did not get the tying run on base.
HERMOSILLO 9, CULIACAN 5 IN CULIACAN
Hermosillo: Luis Garcia was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run, scoring twice. Jesse Gutierrez was 2-for-5 with a walk and a home run, his second. Juan Oramas (San Diego) struck out six in five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk.
Culiacan: Adan Amezcua hit a home run.
The game: It was a close, tight game until the ninth. It was tied at one after one and tied at two after five. Gutierrez homered in the sixth to give Hermosillo a 3-2 lead. It stayed that way through eight. In the ninth, Hermosillo scored six times, with four of them coming on a pinch-hit grand slam by Jesus Loya (Boston). Culiacan came back with three in the bottom of the ninth, but that was all.
OBREGON 5, LOS MOCHIS 0 IN OBREGON
Los Mochis: Los Mochis had only two hits, both singles.
Obregon: Dan Robertson (San Diego) was 2-for-4 with a triple and scored twice. Christian Villaneuva was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Marco Carrillo pitched six shutout innings, allowing two hits and four walks with four strikeouts.
The game: Obregon scored two in the first and two in the second, with Daniel Castro (Atlanta) hitting a two-run homer in the second.
MAZATLAN 3, NAVOJOA 2 IN NAVOJOA (10 INNINGS)
Mazatlan: Oswaldo Morejon was 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Alejandro Martinez struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up four hits and two walks.
Navojoa: Abel Martinez was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double. Wes Bankston was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Alejandro Soto pitched six innings, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
The game: Mazatlan took a 2-0 lead with single runs in the fifth and sixth. Navojoa tied it with single runs in the sixth and seventh. In the tenth, Mario Santana singled and was replaced by pinch-runner Jose Orozco. An error moved him to second, a bunt moved him to third, and a sacrifice fly scored him with the go-ahead run.
