Venezuelan View: Games of 11/5

Another good game for Eduardo Escobar.  Lara leads all the way.  Singles and homers for La Guaira.

LARA 6, MARGARITA 3 IN LARA

TwinsAntoan Richardson (Margarita) was 1-for-4.

Margarita:  Max Ramirez (Kansas City) was 3-for-4 with a home run.  David Peralta (Arizona) was 2-for-4 with a run.  Elveys Gonzalez (Dodgers) was 2-for-3.

Lara:  Nick Buss (Dodgers) was 2-for-3 with a double, scoring once.  Jesus Montero (Seattle) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.  Chris Jakubauskas pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  Lara scored two in the second and one in the fourth to go ahead 3-0.  Margarita came back with two in the fifth.  In the bottom of the fifth, Anderson De La Rosa (Milwaukee) homered, Montero doubled in a run, and Robert Perez singled in another to make it 6-2.  Margarita got the tying run up to bat with two out in the ninth.

LA GUAIRA 7, ZULIA 3 IN LA GUAIRA

TwinsYorman Landa (La Guaira) pitched one inning, giving up one run on one hit and no walks with one strikeout.

Zulia:  Freddy Galvis (Philadelphia) was 3-for-4 with a double and a run.  Henry Rodriguez (Cincinnati) was 2-for-2 with two walks and a home run, driving in two.

La Guaira:  Andy Wilkins (White Sox) was 2-for-4 with a home run (his second) and three RBIs.  Luis Sardinas (Texas) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Alex Cabrera was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double.

The game:  Zulia led 2-1 after four, but La Guaira put together five consecutive two-out singles to score three times and take a 4-2 lead.  Zulia got one back in the sixth, but La Guaira got three more in the seventh, with Wilkins hitting a two-run homer.

ANZOATEGUI 9, CARACAS 5 IN ANZOATEGUI

TwinsEduardo Escobar (Anzoategui) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once.

Caracas:  Carlos Rivero (Washington) was 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run homer, his second.

Anzoategui:  Oscar Salazar was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring twice and driving in three.  Niuman Romero (Baltimore) was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  T. J. McFarland (Baltimore) pitched 5.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  Jose Gil hit a two-run homer in the second to put Anzoategui up 2-0.  A two-run double by Salazar capped a three-run third to make it 5-0.  Anzoategui built the run to 9-1 after five.  Caracas scored two in the seventh and two in the eighth to make the score look better.
