PONCE 4, CAGUAS 3 IN PONCE
Twins: Ryan O'Rourke (Caguas) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up no hits and two walks with one strikeout. Josue Montanez (Ponce) gave up a hit to the only man he faced, but he did not score.
Caguas: Andy Gonzalez was 5-for-5 with a run. Jorge Padilla was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Aaron Bates was 2-for-4 with a walk.
Ponce: Christian Colon (Kansas City) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs. Ivan DeJesus was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Eddie Camacho struck out three in three innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
The game: Colon singled in two in the first inning and Ponce added two in the second to go ahead 4-0. Caguas got single runs in the fourth, seventh, and eighth to make it 4-3. Caguas had the tying run on second with one out in the eighth and had runners on second and third with one out in the ninth.
SANTURCE 8, MAYAGUEZ 2 IN SANTURCE
Twins: Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 1-for-4. Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 0-for-4. Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 0-for-3 with a run.
Mayaguez: Jerry Sands (Pittsburgh) was 1-for-2 with a walk. Rene Rivera (San Diego) was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Santurce: Neftali Soto (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Jack Lopez (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two. Jeff Dominguez was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.
The game: Three two-out doubles produced two runs for Santurce in the fourth, giving them a 3-0 lead. Rivera's two-run double in the fifth cut the lead to 3-2, but Santurce came back with a Jonathan Singleton (Houston) solo homer in the bottom of the fifth and scored four in the sixth to put the game out of reach. They had three singles, an error, a walk, and a double in the inning.
