CAROLINA 4, SANTURCE 1 IN CAROLINA
Santurce: Billy Hamilton (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Joseph Colon (Cleveland) pitched six shutout innings, giving up one hit and three walks with two strikeouts.
Carolina: Enrique Hernandez was 2-for-4. Jesus Feliciano was 1-for-3 with a triple, scoring once and driving in two. Yuya Iida pitched 7.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
The game: There was no score until the sixth, when Hamilton hit an RBI double to put Santurce ahead 1-0. In the seventh, three singles produced the tying run, Feliciano tripled in two to give Carolina the lead, and Anthony Garcia (St. Louis) singled in Feliciano to make it 4-1. Santurce did not get the tying run up to bat.
PONCE 7, CAGUAS 4 IN CAGUAS
Ponce: Rubi Silva (Cubs) was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in one. Christian Colon (Kansas City) was 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs. Henry Ramos (Boston) was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.
Caguas: Miguel Abreu was 2-for-4 with a triple and a home run (his second), driving in two. Juan Silva (Dodgers) was 1-for-2 with three walks and a home run, his second. Aaron Bates was 2-for-4.
The game: Silva homered in the first to give Caguas a 1-0 lead. Reymond Fuentes (San Diego) delivered a two-out, two-run single in the second to put Ponce up 2-1, but Caguas tied it in the fourth on an RBI triple by Abreu. In the fifth, Ivan De Jesus singled in the go-ahead run for Ponce, followed by RBI doubles by Ramos and Silva. Caguas got single runs in the fifth and sixth to cut the lead to 5-4, but that was all they could do. They had the tying run on third with one out in the eighth, but a popup and a ground out ended the threat. Jonathan Mota (Cubs) doubled in two in the ninth for Ponce to put the game away.
