Thirteen years now. I remember thinking as a kid that Pearl Harbor was something too far removed to have any reality attached to it. In twenty years, we'll be the ones talking about the horror on this day to young folks who can't comprehend it.

Pistorius.
I cleaned up the link. Started with "http://http://"
Thanks. iPad linking is tricky.
I thought this was pretty funny. I'm guessing it's just some bored jumbotron operators trying to amuse themselves during the dregs of another lost White Sox season.
is that the 1,138th Sept. 7th hit for a ChiSock, or the 1,138th player in ChiSox history to get a hit, which happened on Sept. 7? Inquiring minds want to know. Oxford commas matter.
Or even more impressive, the 1,138th ChiSock to get a hit in Cleveland on a Sept. 7th?
That's how I read it.
Also, aren't oxford commas the comma you place before "and" in a list? I thought there was legitimate debate among grammerly sorts as to whether or not it actually does matter.
You're correct about what the Oxford comma is. And we've definitely discussed it around here before. Personally, I'm a believer.
I didn't chime in in Feb, but I'm not a belieber in either the Oxford Comma, or the space debate. They are stylistic choices in my book. I enjoyed the cartoon, but reading the sentence w/o the OC didn't confuse me.
Oxford Comma über alles
Except when it muddles things.
All kinds of awesome, that.
I'm a reluctant but chastised convert.
yea, yea, yea. Or, if you prefer, yea, yea yea.
y'all knew what I meant. Unlike some examples of Oxford comma failure.
I think you mean: yea, yea, and yea. 😉
Yea.
Either way, I like the cut of the statistician's jib. I'd be amusing myself with pointless minutiae at this point as well.
Maybe the statistician is also pointing out the lack of creativity of the two teams in scheduling on September 7.
I'd be amusing myself with pointless minutiae.
That's what she said!

Okay, definitely have an extra one now. I think it was $60 with fees, but just toss me $50 and we'll call it straight. Hit me up right here or at [WGOMNameWithNoSpaces]@[the URL of this here website.org]
OFFS. I'm so freaking jealous. I just had to go to Ireland.
I love when companies try to use 9/11 to build brand loyalty.
It's like flag pins on a politician..."What do you mean you didn't send out a 9/11 memorial tweet? What kind of "person" are you?"
I didn't want to click any further while at work, but just how many followers would @Fleshlight have? Eww.
So, it's been bugging me for weeks, mostly because of the age differential,* but is there any chance Santana can beat out Abreu (or McHugh, Shoemaker or Tanaka) for ROY?
*Jose is nearly 4 years older
If Santana hits 20 homers in the next 3 weeks
Sigh.
I guess I was hoping that somehow, maybe, playing 100 games in the majors in a new, (premier?) defensive position, having never played at all above AA, during his age-23 season, and hitting for average and power, and being second among AL rookies in stolen bases could somehow offset Abreu's insane offense...
And ESPN highlights
And Hrbek finished second to Ripken; it's not going to happen
Let's see what WAR has to say.
Nope, no chance.
and
Abreu 317/377/588
Santana 319/355/474
Maybe if Santana was a better bunter....
I waited until Sheenie's doctor ok'd it yesterday, but I snuck down to Omaha for my grandmother's funeral this morning. I decided not to drive separate but catch a ride down with my brother and fly back this afternoon to get back asap. Of course, I'm still in Omaha for at least two more hours when I'm already supposed to be home because Delta.
