I got an email a few days ago from a good friend who's a Boston fan, and he gave congratulations for the Twins avoiding elimination longer than the Sawks did.
small victories. it's what life is about.
I have a good friend who is a Sawx fan and he's been devastated this season, but he can wipe his tears with memories of winning the World Series one year ago. Whenever he's complained, I remind him the Twins have won less playoff games than the Sawx have won World Series in the last 10 years.
I was thinking about this last night. Torii Hunter has been to the playoffs with three different teams and never been to the World Series. His teams are 3-7 in playoff series. That's some kind of leadership.
Didn't he pretty much single-handedly blow that one game because he wanted to make a spectacular catch and ended up allowing an inside-the-park HR? My memory might be tainted by my distaste for ii.
Yes, although he did slug .636 in the series. Twins hit 5 home runs in the series and scored 7 runs total.
Obviously, HRs are rally killers.
Taking my son and two of his friends to the ball park tonight. My son received Legends Club tix for his birthday. Obviously, I've never sat in such fancy (padded!) seats, so any recs WRT things we shouldn't miss? Anyone going to the game toni... never mind.
The Legends Club will make the crappy pitching seem like less of a concern because it is awesome. (Though much better with JI
JIM THOME mashing a couple taters.)
My greatest fear is the three boys bust out a game of knee hockey in the atrium.
Well, if the game deserves knee hockey, then there won't be anyone in the atrium to bother with it.
Very true. There's no way three six grade buddies are going to get bored hanging out with each other late on a school night. I will probably be by myself 90% of the time.
Get to know 'em...

These things happen with some regularity.
I remember when the Twins' AAA affiliate was Edmonton. And before that, Salt Lake City. B-ref tells me that the Twins have had a Rookie-league team in Elizabethton since 1974.
You've got a lot of Rock Cats songs?
New Britain has announced that it's moving to Hartford, but plans for a new stadium in Hartford have been put on hold. The Twins didn't like all the uncertainty, so they looked for something that's more set in stone. I'm guessing the players will like the warmer climate.
The Lookouts are one of the oldest minor league affiliates and were affiliated with the Senators as far back as 1932. Sort.
Wow. Skiing? Breckenridge/Keystone/Copper Mountain? Me likey.
It's been fun having you as a Twins fan, NBB. See you in another decade or two when reaffiliation brings the Twins back your way.
I'm disappointed that they're not the Chattanooga Choo-Choos.
Gleeman pointed out on Twitter that Delmon Young will be on a playoff team for the 6th straight year. And he's only 29!
All he does is win!
Oh mama.
Morneau had 5 RBIs in an 8-run first inning. Last-place Rockies lead first-place Dodgers 15-0 through 6 innings. Correia allowed 6 runs in 3 innings of relief. The Dodgers have Butters playing first base. Has there been a worse-hitting first baseman in the history of the game?
Yeah, Mauer. - Dan Barreiro
I hope he keeps this schtick up until Mauer's enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
Butters is a fine-hitting pitcher.
Sweeteners might boost diabetes risk. My decision to avoid diet soda like the plague might actually have benefits. I'm glad I limit my soda intake as well.
Yeah. Drink water.
Yeah, I was prompted, almost a year ago, by various articles, crunchy propganda, and my wife to stop drinking soda. I finally caved and haven't touched it since November last year. My wife still drinks it though :-). We let our kids have soda's only occasionally, but don't really say regular or diet.
The worst part is I have no caffeine alternative. I can't stand tea or coffee, and lemonade's just full of sugar. I pretty much drink water or milk (and a small cup of OJ in the morning). That's about it.
OJ is full of sugar too. If that is your concern, switch to tomato juice and No-Doze.

No more New Britain Rock Cats.
Twins AA affiliate in 2015-2018 will be the Chattanooga Lookouts.
Looks like NBB will have to become a Rox fan.
