MAZATLAN 8, HERMOSILLO 5 IN HERMOSILLO
Mazatlan: Jesus Castillo was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one. Ryan Schimpf (Toronto) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Walter Silva struck out five in 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks.
Hermosillo: Carlos Alberto Gastelum was 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs. Luis Alfonso Garcia was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer. Jesse Estrada pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk with one strikeout.
The game: Mazatlan got a two-run double from Roman Pena and a two-run single by Derrick Robinson (Cincinnati) in a five-run second. Hermosillo scored two in the ninth to make the final score look better but did not bring the tying run up to bat.
MEXICALI 5, LOS MOCHIS 1 IN MEXICALI
Los Mochis: Juan Carlos Gamboa was 2-for-4 with a home run. Emmanuel Avila was 3-for-4 with a double. Lenix Osuna (Dodgers) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Mexicali: Shane Peterson (Oakland) was 2-for-3 with two triples, scoring once and driving in three. Xorge Carrillo (Mets) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one. Edgar Osuna struck out five in 5.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits and no walks.
The game: Mexicali scored three in the second to go up 3-0. Los Mochis never got closer than 3-1.
JALISCO 9, CULIACAN 5 IN CULIACAN
Jalisco: Jose Manuel Rodriguez was 4-for-5 with three doubles, scoring once and driving in two. Marquez Smith (Cincinnati) was 3-for-5 with a home run (his second) and two runs. Graham Godfrey (Arizona) pitched five innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
Culiacan: Jorge Vazquez was 2-for-2 with a two-run homer, his second. Arturo Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Federico Castaneda retired all seven batters he faced, striking out two.
The game: Japhet Amador hit a three-run double in the first to give Jalisco a 3-0 lead. Jalisco led 6-5 after seven, but a Smith homer in the eighth and a J. M. Rodriguez two-run double in the ninth put the game out of reach.
NAVOJOA 10, OBREGON 5 IN NAVOJOA
Obregon: Agustin Murillo was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Donald Lutz (Cincinnati) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once. Oswaldo Martinez pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Navojoa: Chris Marrero (Baltimore) was 3-for-5 with a home run and a double, driving in five. Luis Fonseca was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk, scoring twice. Irving Jimenez retired all seven men he faced, four by strikeout.
The game: Marrero's three-run homer made it 3-0 after one and Fonseca's three-run homer made it 6-1 after two. It was 10-1 after five and Obregon did not get back into the game.
