My wife was told to expect about 50 hours a week for a few weeks as she begins with her promotion, but this past week she logged 65 (while I, too, had about six hours of overtime). Christmas presents are going to be easy this year.

The Twins have an infographic out about the new unis.
My thoughts, for whatever they're worth:
- I think the logo itself looks good, but it looks less good on the plain white uniform. I think they'd be better if they were slightly off-white or pinstriped still.
- I kind of like the gold-trim alternate cap, and if they make a 39thirty version of it I'll buy one.
- The uniforms look good on Mauer and that's all that really matters.
I like the neck/sleeve part with the white. I still think the Twins script is the worst part of the uniform, and the gold shadow doesn't help it.
I'm with Zack; I like the script, but an off white or pinstripe would be welcome
The thing I like least about the infographic is the phrase "evolves our brand." Ugh.
That entire quote made me gag.
I was a big fan of The Gold Standard at the top.
Fool's gold, maybe.
The thing I like most is the entire bottom part with the rundown of all the past unis.
I appreciate that they wanted to incorporate one of the unique features of their new ballpark into their look, but "Gold" is not the first color I think of when I think of Kasota limestone. (And they didn't do a particularly good job of matching the stone in their hue of gol - they should have gone for something lighter and closer to tan.)
If they had to do a drop shadow, they should have used the blue for that, with the "gold" piping/trim around the wordmark and number.
This, for me, is a substantial downgrade.
I think that Red/Gold on the bright white is making my eye see orange, and the navy looks almost gray on the Mauer demo. I can't shake the Giant-sy impression I'm getting.
The gold trim on the blue cap, and around the Minny/Paul logo looks great. Around the script, not so much.
One small change to the jersey is that there is no number on the front.(was below the "n" in Twins)
- The uniforms look good on Mauer and that's all that really matters.
lulz
My two cents: they're as dull as the product they put on the field.
Former Viking dead of ALS at age 42. 42!! Jesus football players is it really worth it?

I don't know where he came from, but many people in poverty don't believe they're going to live to be old or enjoy it like others do. So if you see football as your ticket to money, not just for you but your family, I get it.
Is there a connection between ALS and playing football that I don't know about?
I also saw on Wikipedia that CTE is often misdiagnosed as ALS.
Is it that football players come from a set of people who are more likely to have ALS, or that playing football, or eating mass quantities of food to sustain that amount of muscle-mass, causes ALS. Or drinking gatorade. Or clubbing.
Thanks, socal, I had not heard of those studies.
I'm going to bookmark this and hang on to it for the next ten+ years in case my son shows any interest in football.
No, it wasn't me -- you can't win the lottery when you don't buy the tickets.
The Mets sign Micheal Cuddyer
2 years and giving up a draft pick, ok.
The Wilpons still run the Mets, right? A fool and his money...
Magic!
Bravo.
What... The Mets must have thought Cuddyer was going to accept the qualifying offer and really wanted him.
You can't get Jason Bay replacements just anywhere.
They did learn from him; only two years this time!
Well, when Cuddyer lands on the DL list, he can get a kick start on his big time talking head career in the biggest media market.
Or do his magic act in Times Square.
It only took 5 games before the "Kevin Love is going to LA" talk got going.
Adam Silver is, fortunately, not David Stern and Glenn Taylor is an incompetent boob, but:
I look forward to many years of the Cavs not having a first round pick.
I would like to believe that these rumors are nothing but something to fill in a slow day, but I didnt want to believe that Love wanted to leave the Wolves either and look how that ended up.
I'd prefer to believe he's an embedded Timberwolf. He protested to get out of town and netted the Wolves Wiggins, and he'll be coming back next year on an MLE to "sweep the floors" and win a title with the Wolves.
As awesome as that would be, the idea that he doesn't believe in the way the organization is run is so likely as to make this basically an impossibility.
I do take solace in the fact that the Lakers aren't landing any big time free agents, despite the hubris of their media, due to being a big shit show and Kobe.
The last day of the season, the Cavs are out of the playoffs, Love takes the floor in the 4th quarter , rips rips jersey in half Hulk Hogan style and underneath is his old Timberwolves gear and just walks off the court.
Handshake deal to re-sign with the Cavaliers? Where have I heard that line before?
The Timberwolves Anthony Bennett had LASIK during the offseason
Sounds like my skip, only replace "can't wear contacts" with "won't wear contacts".
I'll be honest, I don't understand "I can't stick my fingers in my eyes but I'm totally fine with a laser burning off parts of my cornea."
I couldn't hardly wear contacts- putting them in wasn't the problem, they just annoyed the crap out of me after about two hours or so. I'd wear them to play sports and that was about it.
The three minutes a laser was pointed at my eyes was pretty easy to sit through (though the next week sucked), and I haven't had any issues in the ten years since.
Yeah, I have astigmatism, so the contacts were thick torics, and I didn't care for the nuisance. I'd much rather throw glasses on in the morning, although contacts were nice for sports and swimming.
What these two said.
My favorite part of toric lenses is when I put them on wrong and had to feel them turning on my eye. I had trouble using them for activity (read: Dance Dance Revolution) since they felt like they bounced around on my eye a bit.
