Venezuelan View: Games of November 12

A big inning carries Margarita.  Lots of little innings carry Lara.  Rene Reyes comes through for La Guaira.

MARGARITA 5, ARAGUA 2 IN MARGARITA

Twins:  Eduardo Escobar was 1-for-5 for Aragua.

Aragua:  Ramon Flores (Yankees) was 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs.  Avisail Garcia (White Sox) was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.  Jan Granado pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits.

Margarita:  Taylor Motter (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-3 with two walks and a run.  Alberto Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with a double and a run.  Carlos Monasterios pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks.

The game:  Margarita scored four in the third to go ahead 5-1 and was in control the rest of the way.  Margarita had only two hits in the inning, both singles, and was aided by three walks and an error.

LARA 11, ANZOATEGUI 1 IN LARA

Twins:  Oswaldo Arcia was 0-for-2 with a walk for Anzoategui.

Anzoategui:  Cory Aldridge (Toronto) was 2-for-2 with a double and a walk.  Jesus Flores (Kansas City) was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Joice Linares (Tampa Bay) struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Lara:  Cesar Izturis (Houston) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a walk, scoring twice and driving in three.  Gabriel Noriega (Seattle) was 3-for-5 with a home run, scoring twice and driving in two.  Nestor Molina (White Sox) pitched six innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  Lara scored in each of the first five innings to build a 7-1 lead, then scored four in the seventh to top it off.

LA GUAIRA 4, MAGALLANES 3 IN LA GUAIRA

Magallanes:  Lew Ford (Baltimore) was 3-for-5 with a run.  Adonis Garcia (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Bobby Blevins (Dodgers) pitched 3.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

La Guaira:  Odubel Herrera (Texas) was 3-for-4 with a home run (his second) and a walk, scoring twice.  Alex Cabrera was 3-for-4 with a double and a run.  Junior Guerra (White Sox) struck out seven in 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks.

The game:  Rene Reyes' two-run double with two out in the sixth broke a 2-2 tie for La Guaira.  Magallanes got one back in the eighth and had the tying run on third base in both the eighth and the ninth.

ZULIA 8, CARACAS 3 IN ZULIA

Caracas:  Blake Gailen was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run.  Alex Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Loiger Padron (Cubs) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.

Zulia:  Giovanny Urshela (Cleveland) was 3-for-5 with a home run (his third) and a triple, scoring twice and driving in two.  Ender Inciarte (Arizona) was 3-for-4 with a triple and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Alex Torres (Tampa Bay) pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing two walks with one strikeout.

The game:  Aaron Altherr's (Philadelphia) two-run single capped a three-run third that put Zulia up 5-2.  Caracas got one back in the fourth but never got closer.
