Puerto Rican Perambulation: Games of November 13

Kennys Vargas and Roberto Perez lead Mayaguez.  Adalberto Flores and Jose Rosado lead San Juan.

MAYAGUEZ 6, CAGUAS 3 IN CAGUAS

Twins:  Daniel Ortiz was 0-for-5 with five strikeouts for Mayaguez.  Kennys Vargas was 3-for-5 with a home run, his second, for Mayaguez.

Mayaguez:  Roberto Perez (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with a home run, scoring twice and driving in three.  Randy Ruiz was 3-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Kanekoa Texiera (Atlanta) struck out four in 3.2 scoreless innings, giving up four hits.

Caguas:  Rey Navarro (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Trever Adams (Texas) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in two.  Luis Atilano struck out three in two shutout innings, allowing two hits.

The game:  Perez' two-run homer in the third put Mayaguez up 5-0.  Caguas came back with three in the bottom of the third but could get no closer.

SAN JUAN 4, CAROLINA 0 IN SAN JUAN

Carolina:  Anthony Garcia (St. Louis) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Ozzie Martinez (Baltimore) was 1-for-3 with a walk.

San Juan:  Jose Lozada (Washington) was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer.  Jonathan Mota (Cubs) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Adalberto Flores struck out eight in seven shutout innings, allowing four hits and no walks.

The game:  Lozada's two-run homer in the fifth broke a scoreless tie.  Carolina had five hits and four walks but stranded seven and hit into two double plays.
