      1. I was here tonight. Reissdorf Kölsch, Ommegang Aphrodite, Meantime IPA, Uinta Black IPA, and Dogfish Head Palo Santo.

the Reissdorf was wonderfully sublime; the Ommegang nicely balanced -- fruity, but not cloying or overly sweet; the Meantime was underhopped by US standards for the style but had some surprisingly bitter malts in the mix (almost burnt, but without the color); the Uinta had a wonderful nose and good balance. The Dogfish Head, as is wont with that brewery, could have used a couple more years of aging to soften the alcoholic, rough edges, but was interesting.

  1. OK, call me what you will, but I was sure Joe Benson was black. I have no idea why. That Gameday pic about knocked me over.

  2. I was going to say Robby is getting some wet dream material interviews Mrs. Parmalee, but she's too old for him

  3. Thought about snapping up a couple of cheap ducats for tonight, but instead had a fire and s'mores in backyard. If you haven't been to TF, you should go soon. It will never be cheaper than right now.

        1. I think I read somewhere that Grampa Sports says the Pohlads want to get down to 90 mil. That's about three steps of separation so take that for what it's worth.

        2. Twins averaging a drop of less than 400 per game so far. That's less than 1 percent. That will drop some more but a lot of tickets were sold a long time ago.

      1. I was saved by the Cubs being on instead, so I can just do what I've been doing: not really paying attention to the game and instead listen to you guys talk about things or complain about the lack of offense.

      2. One of the questions I put on the multiple choice section of my exam for Friday is:

        Which weighs more?
        A. A whale.

              1. Well, you've gotta give her credit for thinking outside of the box! Of course, she probably would have done much better had she done more thinking inside the box.

        1. That's it! Blame Dakota! (Now was it North, or South?)

Actually, that the Twins had the gall to bitch about infringement on their giant cash-printing machine was rich. In the meantime, they eliminated the one "free" televised game of the week. They got rid of the music director at the stadium (who would actually spin some cool local music: Jayhawks, Replacements, Hold Steady) in favor of a music service they got on the cheap. Throw in the tacky Gant-Hrbek bobblehead, and I'll argue this organization has gotten some Instant Karma payback. They've gotten too smug for their own good. They took their eyes off the prize (on field product), and directed them at the bottom line.

          Fuck 'em.

          1. A devil's advocate would suggest at least some of the money gets fed back into the payroll, but I agree that the Twins have been pretty cynical when it comes to certain business decisions. Signing with KSTP over WCCO based on a petty $1 million told me all I needed to know.

          2. Hey, I live in that Dakota (it's the southern one)! Do what I do and blame Iowa (Sorry Mags and fellow Iowans, it's a reflex).

          3. IIRC, Sanford is the largest employer in each of South and North Dakota. But I think they arose out of SoDak.

            1. T. Denny lives in SD (I hear life is better in Sioux Falls!), but he's a UM grad. Remember, he wanted the Goofs stadium named after him.

  4. The Minnesota Twins are officially eliminated from the playoffs with the Tigers win tonight.

    GOSO.

              1. It is. They have to play above .500 to avoid a top three spot. 100 losses is not out of the question. 102 losses will be tough, but not impossible.

                1. After losing the first three to the ChiSox here, my predicted wins on the season is now 58. At one point, I expected 60 wins, at least one of them was yesterday. That gives the team 104 losses. (And hopefully a new GM?)

  5. If you scroll down this game log fast enough, my avatar looks like a bunch of vultures descending on the kill.

(I think I need new glasses.)
