  1. Raise your hand if you are a Knucklehead.

“Men are not terribly strategic,” Stewart said. “They walk in and buy what they remember is needed. They’re buying for right now, or maybe tonight. Anything beyond that is too long-term.”

Case in point: Women are most likely to buy 12-packs of beer, while men typically buy six-packs, according to Underhill.

“Men tend to be hunters: They want to kill something quickly, drag it out and feel successful,” he said. “Women, though, they’re thinking ahead and planning accordingly.”

Now, I'm a guy who believes in testable hypotheses and the data and appropriate statistical model to test them. So, maybe there is some evidence to back up these analytical claims. Buuuuuut. (this story actually better describes my wife's approach to grocery shopping which she loathes; me, I menu-plan in the store as I see what looks good and is on sale).

    1. men tend to buy many items at once, and shop alone

I regularly bring my children - at least some of them - shopping with me.

      1. I do, too. And every time I wonder why I didn't learn my lesson from the last time.

  2. I menu-plan in the store as I see what looks good and is on sale

Same here. I do probably 75% of the cooking in the family (and 90+ of the dinner cooking). I regularly miss an item or two for meals that will happen several days down the road, but I doubt that fits into what they're calling "too long-term."

I wonder if there is some data but perhaps it speaks more to "primary family cook" than gender, and "primary family cook" tends to overlap with gender?

      1. You know, I can't confirm that anybody else has ever seen him. So he very well may be a figment of my imagination.

      1. scroll down in the comments to "sources" for his proposed trade for some LULZ, including a Terry Ryan potshot.

    1. That's what I would be looking into if I was the GM. You're obviously not going to get a superstar fro Grossman, but I have to think you'd at least get as much as you got for John Ryan Murphy.
