Nick doesn't seem like he's going to have the chance to have his own kids, but he's doing a bad impression of Mickey Mouse right now to amuse Sour Cream, and I think he's relatively happy.

Anyone here have / know anyone who owns a Handsome bike? In my now months long quest to find a decent replacement for my whip I've narrowed down to surly's straggler and handsome's fredward. The drawback of the surly is $$$, and the risk of the handsome is not being able to test ride it before committing.
No, but I love that they named a bike after Fred Ward.
The scuttlebutt on the tweet machine is that there is a big foot ball match today.
Oh yeah? Who's playing?
On a more serious note, I assume this is why the wolves don't start until 8, which is total bs for a home game.
I don't think that has anything to do with it.
I'm thinking so. But the Wolves have had a few 8pm Saturday home starts this year, so it could be an NBA.tv thing?
Oh yeah, NBA.tv. Well, it's still crap! I can't stay up late enough, but might end up doing so anyway, leaving me tired tomorrow.
I think it is on ESPN.
Hey, it is!
I'll be watching the FSN+ feed
The Wild game was moved because of the Vikings too. I kind of love that approach though.
So I walked out of my spin class this morning after 15 minutes of torture. Too. Loud. Didn't mind the music, but the last-minute-fill-in-spin-instructor kept screaming in to the microphone, and singing along with her Pit Bull tracks. I repaired to the pool instead.
After shvim and shvitz (it is the JCC after all), I went to A Dong (WeHa's answer to the VietNam question) and got a half-smoked-duck, chopped (you don't want that tiny woman swinging her massive cleaver in your general direction). I had to ask one of the staff where to find the Chinese pancakes - handwaving ensued, NBB saying "War Shu, pancake?" - until another patron helped to translate and the dude pointed them out in the right freezer section.
Moo Shu Duck
- smoked duck, chopped (out-source this, unless you have ducks and know how to smoke them)
- Moo Shu shells (frozen)
- chopped green onion
- chopped cabbage
- bean sprouts
- Hoisin sauce
Heat the pancakes in a pan covered with tin-foil, or steam them if you can - mine got kind of brittle. Smear hoisin onto the pancakes, then add the other ingredients liberally. Be careful for bones, as the duck has been cleavered. Multo bene.
Your food stories always hit the spot, Bo. Quality. Also, yum.
25 years ago today, Springfield got its monorail. (h/t Chris Jaffe)
Guess I buried the lede
The key to winning in the NFL playoffs: If you get behind, knock the opponent unconscious.
Out of context, this sounds terrible. In context, this sounds. ...terrible.

Eleventy!!!!! Beating the Saints is my Super Bowl, so that felt great. I haven't contacted the in-laws yet, but I know they wouldn't have extended the same courtesy if the roles were reversed.
That was just the most amazing thing ever
WALK OFF WIN!
Awesome win!
So as you all know I listen to music while watching sports on TV.
I was listening to John Coltrane all first half. Then over half the iTunes switched to Frank Sinatra. That didn't work out so well and the I switched back to Coltrane. Forbath field Goal for the lead. For some reason, I though Ryan Bingham could bring the game home. Nope. When Vikes got the ball back with 25 seconds I had to switch back to Coltrane. #SkolColtrane
Skoltrane
It's pronounced "SKOOOOOOOOLtrane!"
Should have tried some Alice.
Stefon Diggs' helmet is somewhere up there with Tom Lawless' bat and never coming down.
And Prince's guitar
if you"re in nola for Muses you just may catch the shoe I made that includes prince's guitar.
Nice. Sheenie briefly asked if you could make a print of the cat in a Diggs jersey, but then she backtracked.
Tell your boss that I haven't forgotten about her print request... carnival is my busy time...
I let the CEO know. We're in no hurry.
And the ball Carlos Silva threw after his CG vs. Angels.
I don't know how to react when the Vikings win a big game like that. I was prepared all game for them to lose. Miracles like that never happen for the Vikings. I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
Padre, I lost my GD mind. (pardon the GD). I came out of my seat and screamed like a child for a full minute. Holy Cows. Also, I could care less about football, but that was so unexpected that I just didn't know what to do. So, I screamed like a child.
That was mostly me. The most excited I got until then was a gentlemenly fist pump when Forbath hit the field goal.
Yup. I kept cautioning myself that "this is how they do it. They lead, they look like they'll win, then... bam. Plus, they'll lose in Philly." But that was so fun I just stood there saying "I don't believe it!" for at least a minute. Stunned. Cool stunned.
Several past teams ask you to hold their beers...
...but yeah.
That was amazing. Linds and I are at the Wild fame, and everyone here at the Excel lost their minds it was awesome. Best sports moment I can think of in a long time.
Started the game watching from the Flat Earth Taproom, old skool - projector to pull-down screen, connected to ... a laptop, maybe? After a while, lots of couples with young(er) children and a dude with his pup, join us, and my buddy was like, “wanna head elsewhere? Place is beginning to feel like a church basement.” [it did]*. At halftime, we headed to a local watering hole in StP; ‘better’ crowd + great menu + foto-finish and it may be the best MN sports memory in the past 2 decades. Was at the Herkimer in Mpls for the Nino Game 7 OT-winner in ‘14 ... bias to the most recent playoff win I guess.
*no offense Padre
I mean, game 163, but sure...
Hey look, our
old friendnew closer, Fernando Rodney!I was at that game, so I don’t discount how big it was, and by the 12th, things were definitely ratcheted up to the extreme. The Dome was bananas ... But, but a come from ahead to behind to ahead to behind with 25 seconds left, and the home team hits on a 61-yard touchdown to walk off and make it to the conference championship!?! Much as I love the Twins, this felt bigger to me. Though again, I’m happy to acknowledge the recency bias.
It's certainly among the top few. For me, 163 was so absurd throughout, whereas this was... fairly predictable, except for the last play. Maybe it's just the contrast between "game" and "moment" and football might be more of a "moment" game except for walk-offs?
Either way, they were both totally awesome.
IIRC, only the pitches in all of Game 163 were thrown with the Twins leading.
Hard for me to weigh in since I love baseball 10 times more. Game 163 was way more tense overall. This game tonight felt like a possible blowout, and it wasn't even all that tense until the last quarter. Though the last five minutes did feel a bit like innings 8 through 12 of Game 163.
If I loved the Vikings like I love the Twins, I imagine I would rank this just as high because they're closer to the championship.
Yea, it was one ridiculous play after a miserable half. Like hitting a grand slam with two strikes and two outs in the bottom of the 9th down by three.
Reminds me of I think it was Game 5 of the 1987 World Series. I was the team manager of our high school football team that year and we were playing during the WS game. There was a very nondescript play that happened, like a short run on first down or something, and the crowd just goes nuts because the Twins just took the lead. Of course, this was before smartphones, but a bunch of people, including me, had portable transistor radios or even portable TVs with those tall antennas.
So, we were at the game and just got home. I am emotionally exhausted. Riding high in the first half. Feeling mighty nervous in the 3rd quarter. Getting irate during the 4th quarter. The Saints field goal was a gut punch and I was doubled over just trying to not go completely insane. I watched some Vike fans leave early and was tempted to join them. Some nice dude next to me was just so positive, clapping his hands and saying "we got this." Diggs goes all diggity and scores. I hug my wife. I hug the nice dude next to me. I hug his buddy. I check my phone and 4 different people send me a one word text: "Wow". I am almost 50 years old and I used my vikings giveaway towel to wipe the tears in my eyes. This does not happen to Minnesota fans. This is something that is typically reserved for the other team. I am pretty sure I levitated all the way down to the exits and don't think my boots touched any snow on the way to the ramp. Random Viking fans would stumble up to me in the street and we would just stare at each other and shake our heads with a smile. No screaming, no chanting, just post celebratory elation syndrome. Ate at Nelson Brothers in Clearwater on the way home. It was soon full with purple jerseys and we all just looked at each other and giggled. Walked in the house and my 18 year old (usually too cool for Dad) runs out of his room and bear hugs us both. Damn you Vikings, you have suckered me in once again... hook, line and sinker. Skol!
Nice!
That was... unexpected.
My twitter feed is going to be really annoying, isn't it?
probably
Absolute best thing I read in my FB feed:
That play seemed to have some J. Walter Weatherman to it.
Most shocking play in NFL playoffs since the Motor City Miracle, I think, so I'm sure this will be dubbed the Minneapolis Miracle. Vikings radio dubbed it that as it happened. That call was nuts. I feel sorry for those only able to listen on the radio since there was about 30 seconds there that the radio crew was incoherent, which is understandable.
Different headlines:
Yahoo Sports: Win Cities
NFL.com: Skol Stunner
ESPN: Curse No More
That second quarter went a little better than the first.
That Teague bounce pass was Rubioesque
I also generally love how Jimmy madness both defense and mid range 2's look fun.
Im always shocked when Jamal Crawford passes the ball. And as a result of a Crawford pass, KAT destroyed a Blazer
I was right, I stayed up too late.
Tonight, I curled as well as I have all season. The wolves completely dismantled the Blazers. And it looks like I'll be able to use my snowblower tomorrow. Pretty good day.
