Hang onto your hats, gentlemen. Today's tilt features a match-up of two rookie hurling phenoms. In this corner, weighing in with a 3-1 record, a 4.10 ERA, and a 0.4 WAR is Shohei Ohtani. In the other corner, sporting a 2-0 record, and a 0.8 WAR, undefeated and unscored upon, Fernando Romero. It's only my humble opinion, but I'll put it out there - these are the two most exciting young pitchers in baseball at the moment. My brother-in-law in Orange will be in the stands today - wish I could join him. Play ball!

No Trout or Ohtani in the lineup. No Buxton either.
Usual for Ohtani though.
And no Joe
Well, I'll take Emergency Joe or Rally Joe.
Ugh, ii is tuuuurrible.
Romero with an effectively wild start.
Kepler deserves a home run here for wearing those awesome socks.
That's the second time this series an angels player has complained after a pitch that was well within the strike zone.
Walks will haunt. 🙁
Boy, what's up with Kole Calhoun?
(looking at his history, he was pretty disappointing last year after a strong first four years).
Pressly vs Trout. I got a bad feeling about this.
Vas? ! Man we needed that out...
Oh, my.
Well, how the heck about that?!
An Innovative Solutions Double Play!!
Sounds like we've got a heck of a ball game going on here!
Baked potato nacht: Icelandic yogurt, garden chives, cheddar cheese, pancetta, left-over grilled tomato/onions and broccoli.
grilling chix breasts marinated in lemon juice, orange juice, garlic, dill, oregano, and olive oil, with sauteed broccoli.
Awesome! I mean Crap!
Well, shoot. Any chance for a challenge?
The Minnesota Lottery Challenge fails.
Well, shit. With Joe on deck and only one out, why send him?
Good call?
Because the Ghost of Al Newman.
Joe would have been walked like they ended up doing anyways. It wasn't all that close but it was a great play made by all 3 players. Maldonado might have made the best play by catching it on an in-between hop. Adrianza didn't read it right away and hesitated around second, otherwise would have scored.
blarg
Well, it sounds like sending him was the right call. Sometimes, when you force the other team to make a play, they make it.
It took perfect relay throws to get Adrianza out and thats what happened.
I would sure like to see a better batter than Wilson here.
Way to not swing, Wilson!
Or anywhere else.
Adrianza was a bit awkward rounding third. Right call to send him.
Loading the bases in the 9th has to be bad for your resume.
Hahaha! Walk the .083 "hitter".
I'd settle for a Dazzle Special here.
Well, that was anti-climactic.
Well, poop.
I love the ol' Unintentional Walk After The Intentional Walk play
Watching the game while my wife and daughter launch the first expedition with 2 of these. As we live right across the street from a lake and have very nice neighbors we have an easy launch point.
and here I was expecting a link to a beer.
That's not how we wanted to start the bottom of the ninth.
sad trombone
Well crap.
Well, it didn't end the way we wanted, but it was a darn good game, anyway. No disgrace losing that one.
an unfortunate end. You gotta win more of those than you lose if you want to make the playoffs.
Still, this has been a good road trip.
Series split feels like a disappointment now.
Angels are 22-14 against all other teams. I would never be disappointed with a road split against a team with that good of a record, especially with Sano, Santana and Castro hurt.
Definitely a lost opportunity. But in the bigger scheme, what socal said.
It was a pitcher on my fantasy team that blew the lead to the Twins and the Twins still lost. That's a bad day.
