I was going to use a bizarre story from work here, but I ended up burning it off last night in the Cup. Now I can't think of anything interesting that happened today.

Dave Cameron is leukemia free. Still a long way to go until he's "cured", but a step in the right direction.
Whoa. I, uh...
...well, I've known a handful of people with leukemia, and as such, I wasn't exactly expecting this kind of recovery. Excellent news.
I mentioned last night that I had a blown tire. Like a couple of years ago on my birthday, it was the front left tire. I was traveling about 72 MPH when the tire blew. It made a very loud noise and I knew what it was immediately. The car held a straight line and I had no problem controlling the car at all. I used the iPhone to figure out where exactly I was, and concluded that I needed to buy two tires in Sauk Centre, MN. I called a towing company, because I wasn't about to risk my life changing a tire on the freeway at night. It cost me some money, but it was worth it to eliminate that risk. I got a couple of tires and was on my way in about 1:20 from the time it happened. Not too bad, considering that I was eight miles from town. It was not a Mark's Towing performance, for sure.
MLB blackout rules are stupid
When you cancel your MLB.tv subscription, there's an option to say you canceled because of the blackout rules. It's sad the option even exists.
do baseball writers even question Bud about this subject? Its been talked about before, but the whole blackout thing is stupid when you are always trying to build, maintain, and expand a brand.
With him right to the bitter end.
Looks like the Twins have a new Neck Fat on their radar. That is not a flattering picture.
As they say, he's in shape, because "round" is a shape.
There are some great comments, though, like:
"kopy - Jan 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM
This wouldn’t be a bad signing, but as a Twins fan, I think it’s better that we let the Nationals sign Coffey and then we trade Span for him."
We miss you, Bill Smith.
I think I will be able to come up with a new WWF banner for that, sure.
It's time. It's time. It's Coffey Time!
This old house is drafty and I really don't feel like getting out of bed.
It's a simple game.
That was a nice article, both for the shot percentage breakdown and the Rambis flowchart. Man that guy was terrible.
I joined Canis Hoopus just to recommend that article. Great stuff.
the twins need pitching, so they went out and signed silva.
POW! I just sh!t my pants. Thanks jobu.
Yeah, damn you. I had heard the other Silva's name in the same article as the Twins prior, so I thought I was going to have to do a facepalm.
I kind of miss the Chief. I found his sucking more entertaining than Blackburn's or whatever.
?? In three of his four years with the Twins (including his last, 2007), the Jackal was a 3+ fWAR pitcher and threw between 180 and 203 innings each year. Are you referring to his post-Twins suckitude?
Yeah, dude was a trooper who put up more than adequate numbers given the role we thought he was going to fill when we got him. His 2005 season is still just insane.
Yeah, we definitely got his best years, which weren't exactly horrible.
To be totally honest, I didn't follow the team much pre-2006, so I see the one good season (2007) bookended by crap (2006, 2008-present) in my head.
He was once my favorite player.
See proof here. My surname doesn't rhyme with "Boesch", but it looks like it would.
A couple of other familiar names there.
Holy mackerel! Where did you dig that up? I don't even remember writing that.
I thought it was part of this watch-winning essay, but reading that told me I had written another blurb, so I googled my surname on Sethspeaks.net and there it was.
Whatever I said the other day about Batgirl and TwinsGreek on Strib.com directing me to Stick's old place, I now realize it was probably Seth.
Hey you Black Keys fans out there. I have a pre-sale code for the upcoming Target Center concert. The presale is on Friday the 13th starting at 10:00a. The code is: camino. I think the actual concert is May 15th.
I'm down. You going?
Sitting in the Dr's office and heard Roger Ebert's name called. No, it wasn't him.
And on the home front, this Runner is fit as a 50-yr old fiddle.
Congrats on successfully coughing and turning your head. Did you have to enjoy a colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscope this year?
coughing and turning my head? those days were over after HS physicals
I have a pre-colonoscopy meeting with the doc on the 19th. There's nothing to a colonoscopy (sleeping on my stomach for a while? cinch) but drinking the gallon of colon-blast the day before I am not looking forward to.
The colon-blast is really no big deal, either. It's a nuisance, but no worse than that.
yeah, all that sounds awesome, guys. can't wait...
Honestly, it's no big deal. I put it off for two years because of all the stories I'd heard, and then felt incredibly stupid for having done so.
coughing and turning my head has been replaced by this:

Define close:
Here are the win totals for the Colts from 2003-09, a span of seven seasons:
12, 12, 14, 12, 13, 12, 14
Call me an idiot, but I'd say that's pretty close.
from 1987 through 1998, the 49ers won (regular season): 13, 10, 14, 14, 10, 14, 10, 13, 11, 12, 13, 12. That's six seasons of 13+ wins in 12 seasons, including five in nine during 1989-97.
So, yeah, that's even closer. Heh.
Edit: But, count the rings. Er... never mind.
also, 1984-92 49ers: 15, 10, 10, 13, 10, 14, 14, 10, 14. There's another way to combobulate five 13+ win seasons (and three SB wins) in nine consecutive years. Ho hum.
so, who wants to go to the same bars as Adam Davidson???
The Twins could give him #21, right?
I'd be in support of TheMeatTree coming to spring training. Possible Morneau insurance?
It doesn't hurt to take a look, as long as they don't actually count on him to do anything.
The check engine light in the Pacifica came on today. I found out something cool about it, I can check the code just by using the key and turning it to on and off a few times. Anyway, its the catalytic converter inefficiency code, which is both boring and awesome because I don't need to worry about it. I would like to try running a fuel treatment through to see if I can clean it enough to make the light go away, though. Anyone have any recommendations? Twayn, you there?
I don't think fuel treatment will help, FWIW. Here's a link to a discussion that seems to cover that issue. Short version, there's a good chance you've got a bad O2 sensor but if you're unlucky you might need a new catalytic converter.
As someone who's had plenty of experience with bad O2 sensors, I'm sure that's what it is. I'll probably try to check them this weekend. For the most part, there aren't any other issues with how the engine runs, so its not even a problem I care about. I was just wondering if there was an additive that might at least sort of clean the converter to see if it makes the light turn off. But yeah, P0420 is the code that I don't mind seeing.
I've had some experience with a bad catalytic converter....
Mine turned into chunk charcoal a couple years ago. Apparently, burning oil is not good for catalytic converters. And, surprisingly enough, having chunks of charcoal in your exhaust pipe can affect performance.
Got my new HD today. Now I'm trying to get it to dual boot Windows7 and Ubuntu.
I futzed around with it for a bit, but I couldn't get the partitions to work right, so I just wiped it and did straight Ubuntu.
I approve.
According to the Independent, the ten best bottled beers.
Yes, I am shedding a few tears for myself, as I've only had two on their list. But Goose Island IPA? Seriously?
Speaking of SN Celebration, I just didn't think the "spicy-ness" was as front and center. It tasted like it was toned down as compared to last year, when I drank a ton of it. It's fine, but it isn't as fantastic as past years.
That said, I looked for it at the liquor store tonight to try again, but struck out. I'll give it another go based on your and Spooky's rec, as soon as I can find it again.
judging by the beers i do know on the list, i'm not sure if i trust the rest of it...
Yeah, when I saw Chang, that was my thought too.
maybe the writer was listing the ten best bottled beers she'd had that day.
Chang was my clue too. Many of the others don't even register on BA...
inspired by the new episode of Parks and Recreation, I am going to make a calzone someday soon.
I rented a house on Buchanan St. in NE Mpls (a long while ago).
I was a block and a half away from Delmonicos, this little Italian groc. store. Wonder if its still there...
Place was stuffed floor to ceiling with various Ital. goods. They'd always give you a slice of salami to taste whilst you were thinking of what to get.
And what to get was frozen Calzones - with a jar of home-ade tomato sauce and some cheese. Nice-a-mia.
At the time, I had no furniture so my gal (NBBW) and I would spread out a tablecloth on the floor and enjoy. Good memories.
Sadly, no.
I used to live (illegally) in an old warehouse about 3 blocks away. My hotplate sang some beautiful arias when it was heating up their dee-lish homemade sauces. Great old place that looked straight outta 1950's Brooklyn.
I can picture you cooking on a hot plate in your illegal warehouse apartment, and it fits.
Heh. It was one of them fancy two-burners. And it wasn't an apartment. It was 1200 square feet of raw space--asphalt floors, 16 foot ceilings, no kitchen, no shower--for the first 4 months of a two year stay, and the constant threat of a city inspector pulling the plug on the gig.
That was over 25 years ago. Damn.
If you can mix yeast with warm water, you can make a calzone. Pizza dough is really easy. Roll it out, put toppings on half, fold the other half over the toppings and pinch shut, bake in a zillion degree oven.
Back in the day, we'd crack a raw egg over the toppings just before the folding-and-pinching part. Mmmmm.
holy schnikies. Gophers beat #8 Indiana on the road according to Doogie (twitter)
Wow. That was unexpected. I kept waiting for them to blow it. They tried, but Indiana finally missed a couple shots at the end. Welch is a huge choke artist. Second time he can't make a free throw with the game on the line. Fortunately, it was just to put the game away instead of trying to break a tie like their OT loss.
With Gus Johnson on the call. Pretty fun to watch the last four minutes.
Not happy about that last play. Coming out of a time out like that I would expect better execution. That inbound wasn't near anyone.
Up by 5 with about 40 sec left, the pass went inside to a big guy...the defender should of just let him go in for the layup. instead he got fouled and converted the 3pt play. But we won in the end. so yay
I missed most of the game because Thursday night comedies were on
Yeah, I was screaming at the radio after that idiotic foul. It was the second three-point play for Indiana in the final two minutes, or something like that.
