Where They Stand

Minnesota is 51-60, fourth in the AL Central, 8 games behind Detroit.  The Twins have lost one game in a row and are 4-6 in their last ten games.
Rochester is 44-67, sixth in the IL North, 19 games behind Lehigh Valley.  The Red Wings have lost one game in a row and are 6-4 in their last ten games.
New Britain is 55-56, fourth in the EL East, 7 games behind New Hampshire.  The Rock Cats have lost five games in a row and are 3-7 in their last ten games.
Ft. Myers is 15-25 in the second half, sixth in the FSL South, 9 games behind Bradenton.  The Miracle has lost four games in a row and is 1-9 in its last ten games.
Beloit is 17-22 in the second half, tied for fourth in the ML West, 7 games behind Kane County and Quad Cities.  The Snappers have lost five games in a row and are 3-7 in their last ten games.
Elizabethton is 23-20, second in the AL West, 5 games behind Johnson City.  The Twins have lost one game in a row and are 4-6 in their last ten games.
The GCL Twins are 19-21, tied for second in the GCL South, 5 games behind the GCL Orioles.  The Twins have won one game in a row and are 3-7 in their last ten games.
The DSL Twins are 31-22, third in the B. C. B. C., 4.5 games behind the DSL Orioles.  The Twins have lost two games in a row and are 4-6 in their last ten games.

Minor Details: Games of 8/4

Norfolk 5, Rochester 4 in Norfolk.  The Tides scored two in the sixth to break a 3-3 tie.  Dustin Martin singled and doubled.  Jeff Bailey and Chase Lambin each had two hits.  Scott Diamond allowed all five runs on eight hits and no walks in six innings.  Cole DeVries worked two perfect innings of relief.

Erie 12, New Britain 2 in Erie.  The SeaWolves scored four in the second and four more in the fifth.  Joe Benson hit his ninth home run.  Blake Martin allowed six runs (four earned) on just three hits but eight walks in 3.1 innings.  Twins pitchers combined to walk fourteen batters.

Bradenton 9, Ft. Myers 3 in Bradenton.  The Marauders broke a 1-1 tie with seven in the sixth.  Angel Morales had two doubles and a single.  Danny Rohlfing singled and homered.  Tom Stuifbergen threw five solid innings before the roof fell in.  For the game he allowed six runs on ten hits and a walk in 5.1 innings.

Kane County 10, Beloit 4 in Beloit.  The Cougars scored three in the first and three more in the fourth.  Wang-wei Lin had two of the four Snappers hits.  Sam Spangler lasted only four innings allowing six runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks.

Kingsport 6, Elizabethton 1 in Kingsport.  The Mets scored three in the first.  JaDamion Williams had two singles and a triple, raising his average to .360.  Miguel Sano doubled and hit his ninth homer.  David Hurlbut allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits and no walks in 5.2 innings. 

GCL Twins 2, Orioles 1 at Orioles (16 innings).  The Twins scored one in the seventh to tie and one in the sixteenth to win.  Stephen Wickens and Phillip Chapman each had two hits.  Starter Hein Robb gave up an unearned run on two hits and three walks in four innings.  Five relief pitchers then held the Orioles scoreless:  Gonzalo Sanudo pitched two innings, giving up a walk; Kyle Wahl pitched three innings, giving up three hits and striking out four;  Marcus Limon pitched three innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out three; Luis Nunez pitched three innings, striking out five while giving up a hit and two walks to get the win; Markus Solbach pitched a perfect sixteenth, walking one to get the save.

DSL Twins at Orioles.  Postponed for the third day in a row.

Minor Details: Games of 8/3

Rochester.  No game scheduled.

Erie 3, New Britain 2 in Erie.  Brent Wyatt hit a walk-off homer off Steve Hirschfeld leading off the bottom of the ninth.  Brian Dozier had two singles and a double, raising his average to .317.  David Bromberg pitched four innings, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks, striking out five.

Bradenton 5, Ft. Myers 4 in Bradenton.  The Marauders tied it with a run in the six and won with one in the eighth.  Angel Morales and Josmil Pinto each singled and hit a two-run homer.  Pat Dean worked seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks.  Matthew Tone allowed the eighth-inning run to take the loss.

Kane County 6, Beloit 1 in Beloit.  The Snappers led 1-0 after two, but it was all downhill after that.  Jairo Perez had two doubles and a single, bringing his average back to .360.  Andrew Achter allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks in six innings.

Elizabethton 6, Kingsport 5 in Kingsport.  The Twins lost a 5-2 lead, but scored in the ninth to win.  Kennys Vargas had two doubles and two singles, raising his average to .326.  Nick Lockwood had two singles and a homer.  Miguel Sano hit a three-run homer.  Pedro Guerra lasted five innings, giving up five runs on seven hits and three walks.  Steven Gruver worked two shutout innings, giving up just one hit.  Steven Evans got the win with a perfect eighth.  Madison Boer struck out two and allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth to get the save.

GCL Orioles 3, Twins 0 at Twins (Game 1--Scheduled 7 innings).  Joshua Hendricks and Jorge Polanco each had half of the Twins four hits.  Bobby O'Neill struck out four in four innings, giving up a run on five hits.  Matthew Tomshaw struck out two in one perfect inning.

GCL Orioles 5, Twins 2 at Twins (Game 2--Scheduled 7 innings).  The Orioles scored four in the fourth.  Candido Pimentel had two hits.  Ricardo Arevalo allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits and a walk in 3.1 innings. 

DSL White Sox at Twins.  Postponed.
