2025 Game 7: Twins Home Opener (vs. Houston)

After six months of staring out the window waiting for spring, the home opener has finally arrived. The boys are back in town and sitting in a five-way tie for first place in the AL Central. While the boys got off to a slow start (again) this year, dropping four in a row, they managed a series win against the White Sox and make their home debut today sporting a 2-4 record.

After going 0-18 at the plate to start the season, C4 finally got off the schneid and collected a couple of hits last night. The big surprise of the season so far, though, has to be Harrison Bader. Three of his four hits to date have been home runs, he's scored three and driven in eight. So while his batting average and OBP are sitting at .250, he's sporting a 1.125 OPS. That's not sustainable, of course, but Bader has been one of the brighter spot in the lineup so far.

Joe Ryan takes the mound for the Twins in his second start of the season today. He did not factor in the decision in his season debut, but pitched to a 1.80 ERA with five strikeouts. Houston counters on the mound today with Hunter Brown. He lost his first start this year while compiling a 3.00 ERA in six innings. That's all I got. Going to be a long season, hopefully with enough highlights and wins to keep it interesting through September.

2023 Game 56: Minnesota Twins at Houston Astros

Louie Varland
vs
Hunter Brown

Final game against the Astros this season. The Twins won the series at home in early April and today's rubber match would make it two series wins against a good team.

This is Hunter Brown's rookie season, but not his first season as he tossed 20 ⅓ innings last year across seven games. He earned Houston's sole win in the first series with seven innings, two hits, and a single unearned run. Here's hoping the Twins have figured out a better plan of attack for their hot-or-not batters.
