Beck might go down as one of the more underrated musicians of the past 20 years.

I definitely admire Jeff Beck's music.
Much prefer the original of this song.
Somehow it completely went by my radar that this was a cover song. Wow.
which makes Jeff Beck the most underrated musician of the last
2040 years.Yeah. Korgis' version hit the radio for a while. Another cover was used during Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind end credits, also not as good, IMO
I believe this is the cover used during Eternal Sunshine, no?
Oh, I guess it might be. It wasn't this live performance, but maybe it was Beck.
I only know the Field's cover. Which until now I didn't realize was a cover.
I mostly listen to an edit I made of just the second half, which is instrumental only. (Starting at 2:50.)
Beck, Jeff Beck, what's the difference?
Rolling Stones, Rolling Rock, what's the difference? 😉
exactly.
Funny. Just yesterday I was thinking I hadn't seen a lot of Beck on the WGOM. I think he's great, this isn't one of my faves however.
i'm a fan of his, no question, but i just can't help but see being a scientologist as a character flaw.
Why should that come into it? Also, I don't think we have any scientologists here, but mocking a religion might be dangerous form.
a bit after i typed it, i decided it probably would have been best if i hadn't, though i'm comfortable that i'm not mocking a religion.
Good enough. I think a Scientologist who happened by, though, might feel differently, which is why I've always liked that we don't comment much on world religions here.
I don't know how you can call a guy who has sold millions of records, received extensive airplay, and garnered (for the most part) critical hosannas from the press "underrated".
agreed.
He's kindof neglected by the hipster/pitchfork/undamaged-robot crowd.
Hey, did you see my link in yesterday's iPod dump post?
New Eleanor Friedburger solo track available at Pitchfork.
This.
I'm checking it out right now.
totally. he's known as a musician-poet who transcends genres even as he re-invents them.
so, basically he's another Zimmy wannabee.
speaking of underrated
I wish I could have come up with that quote.
