    1. I'm warming up to Lasers a little. The first couple of listens were pretty grim. It's not nearly as good as Lupe's first two, but there's plenty of things to like there.

      1. I have the same basic opinion on Lasers, re: being alright, but less than The Cool or Food & Liquor. I wonder how much of that is the fact the record company jerked the album around for 2 years and how much of it is Lupe's fault.

        1. I won't deny that a lot of it sounds phoned in. He's expressed displeasure with how the company treated it/him, but I'm sure there's plenty of blame to go around.

I think the dude needs to make a couple of mixtapes and just kind of figure things out. Enemy of the State is twice the album that Lasers is, and it's not really even an album.

          1. Enemy of the State is very good. I've been meaning to track down his Fahrenheit 1/15 three part mixtape. I know it's out there and easy to get a hold of, but I never think to do it when I'm at home. Hopefully I'll see this discussion after work and finally do it.

  8. It was up in the air whether we'd be travelling to the in-laws' this weekend. FiL had shoulder surgery (bone spurs) about ten days ago and was in some pain this week. But now things look better.

I'll have my random ten and my much-awaited* Summer mix in the PM.

    *I'm delusional.

    * One half of the F*** Buttons. I think I mentioned him before, but I'd only heard 2 or 3 of his songs at that point. Now that I've heard the whole thing, I like it even more.

† I'm mildly shocked this song is still on my PC, much less my iPod.

  11. Picked up Otis Redding on the Sunset Strip last night. Yikes is it hot! It's a 2 disc set covering 3 shows in 2 nights. Only criticism is that there are five(!) versions of Satisfaction.

  12. The 80-35 Music Festival is this weekend. Here's the lineup. There's not really anyone that screams to me "I MUST SEE THEM!!!1!" especially not in this heat (I really should have gone last year). For my weekend, I foresee a lot of nice, cool beer in my nice, cool apartment, with maybe retiring to the hammock if there's a nice breeze.
