Go Twins!
Go Twins!
Good lord. I think I'd rather have Mauer at 1b than to have to play Raging Tonsils AND the Replicant. But mebbe not.
Let's hope that Swansteak has a good day. They are gonna need it.
Revere with a nibble.
SEND HIM!!!
Another nibble by Cuddy.
more like head-hunting, sounds like.
Afternoon, folks.
yo, carne.
When are you going to be round the motherland, doc?
I fly in on the 22nd. H.s. reunion in Spamtown on the 23rd. A couple of days in the Cities, then to my parents' through the weekend. The Boy and I return west on the 1st.
I've mentioned on FB the desire to meet up with availables if possible on the 24th. The game is probably out, however.
I'm a Luddite when it comes to FB, if the good Dr. and I are around the cities we'll have to split a pitcher of premium.
I've delegated to Bootsy and Stick, plus you have my email.
I'm pretty sure that TK loves taking it in the 4 spot.
Sweet Danny V. tried to chomp off a finger there. Would've been better to just nibble.
Banzaii!
I liked that Pierre just waited on second until he was called out.
Heh, this is Peavy's first start against the Twins as a White Sock.
hopefully Dunn doesn't realize he needs LAZIK until after they're done with the Twins
Smashstack getting it done through 2.
Revere goes nibble nibble.
Ben Revere, singular hitter.
better than a GIDP, I guess.
Eff. Runners at the corners and nobody out. Run expectancy is about 1.8. And we get bupkus, and will LIKE IT.
Joe <-- due
FIAL
That was a creative way of getting no runs.
I blame that on Casilla.
Not doing the little things, to be sure. But can't anyone on this team hit a freakin' fly ball with a man on third and less than two outs?
Yeah, the next three guys up after Mauer's third out
Argh.
Dazzle spinning yarns about his
saladnori days in Japan, how they miss him, etc.speaking of which, I picked up a pint of seaweed salad from Costco yesterday. Pretty tasty.
Nice. For vegan nacht earlier this week, I made little nori wraps - slices of avocado and carrot, fried tofu, and peapods (from NBB garden).
that sounds good. I might need to consider offering it up.
BUTTERS!
?
!!
Wow, my feed is just stupidly behind.
Baby Butter!
Butters showing Mauer how to not be a pansy.
That's how it is done. Way to go, Butters.
Wow. Piranhas rool!
I'm tempted to switch over to the sawx feed.
Okay Squashsquawk, NO GIVE-BACKS
afternoon, all. i know i'm a little late, but i never get to use this:
Howdy, HJ. Congrats, by the way, on the arrival of your kid-o/beterlatethannever
kid? i'm a man, baby.
(j/k, many thanks)
what you talkin' 'bout?
It's pretty funny that Peavy was acquired essentially to help the Hosers get over the hump with the Twins, it took him this long to face them for the first time, and the no-names are smacking him around.
the no-names were acquired essentially to help the Twins get over the hump with Peavy
there has to be SOME reason, right?
Good Sunday afternoon all!
So far, absolutely.
If Crappy Repko and crappier Butera are paper cutting you to death you know it is GOSO for the White Sox.
That's vaguely pro-Twins of you, sir.
The White Sox would finish in last place in the International League. Congrats on beating up on a minor league team, Minnesota.
There is Rochester...
whaddya talking about? This IS Rochester playing.
Happiness == having a home-brew Surly, whilst 35 minutes into the boil on my next batch.
How did the surly turn out?
Really good. I bought a 4-pack last time in Minny, and brought back to CT. NBBW did a taste-to-taste comparison between the official product and mine. She said a very slight difference (might have been my boil-over after adding the DME - I was much more careful this time).
What's on the stove today?
Same kit - Northern Brewer's Surly Furious - Pro Series.
What sets it apart from other beers I've made is the dry hops added in secondary fermentation. It's this mongo batch of hop pellets (5 oz. Simcoe, 2.5 oz Ahtanum, 0.5 Warrior, 0.5 oz Amarillo) - creates a very thick (1.75 inch) foam on the top of the batch in the carboy - downside is a little decrease in overall yield.
I'm on my way back to the motherland and will be retuning to texas with a furious kit. I'm pretty happy that they released their recipes to the homebrewer
Was just down in Austin, TX last weekend to visit some friends. Hadn't been there in ~25 years. Man has that town growed up real good. Nice night scene, great restaurants, pubs.
To escape the 100F, got in some quality swims at Deep Eddy pool (great coldwater 43M outdoor pool).
I love, love, love Austin in a way that makes it unclear to me how it can be part of Texas.
In West Texas, I went into one restaurant. Everyone stared, and a total stranger called me a f*&^ot.
I was at barton springs a couple of weeks ago, water temp was 67 degrees. Refreshing.
Did a sprint triathlon three weeks back - had been raining with no sun for several days prior - water temp was 65F. Bracing.
I swam the first third of it with my head out of the water.
Sun rises, dog barks, kids play, Dunn strikes out.
So is Thome going to the DL? He plays one of the last three games - versus the lefty?
Hmm, a smokestack strike snack.
Man, totally Peavy'd the trivia question. 🙁
just watched the USWNT highlights over Brazil. Wow, what a tight "encroachment" call on the first Marta penalty kick. Technically correct, I suppose. But bogus. And that Wambach goal was beautiful. What a pass. And Wambach is pretty much the only woman in the world who gets that ball. Awesome.
Plus the Brazil player completely faking the injury. Just awful.
Now's an opportune time to remind Cuddy that YOU'RE AN ALL-STAR, DUDE!
1st and 3rd, nobody out. How can we fial this time? Or have we shifted into "embarrassing the Sawks" stage?
I'm starting to warm up to TK in the booth.
The insights more than make up for his lack of a radio/tv voice (which could be developed) It seems the longer someone stays in the booth the more stupid and worthless they become with their assessments. Its not like TK knows a lot more about the game than Blyleven does but Bert is so concerned with being cute and entertaining that his analysis lacks.
He's gotten better with his delivery, and I love the way he apologizes to Richard for talking over him. Bert never seems to notice that there is a ballgame happening while he's talking.
i'm pissed i'm missing him this series. stoopid blackout rules. who in their right mind would want to listen to the hawk?
a fly ball with a man on third and less than two outs!!!!111111one111!!!
The best part was that Mauer tagged from 1st.
the best part was Pierre's noodle arm.
I love how quiet the crowd is.
The inmates have worked hard all week - Sunday is a day of rest.
And "dad take your son to jail day" isn't until August.
Wow, Rios makes terrible decisions for his throws.
Dazzle all GOML with the Sox fundamentals. I'm alright with this.
Dazz: "Chicago White Sox, when it comes to fundamentals, are horrendous."
what was Mauer doing there, Liddle?
Has Hawk's head exploded yet?
He's in what I call 'resigned that we suck against the Twins' mode. This is a fun thing to listen to but it rarely provokes his anti-ump tirades "gotta put it in a teacup!" or his irrational fight baiting "cmon Burly, put it in the earhole!"
Hoo-hah - make hay, fellas!
See ya Peavy.
when it rains, it pours.
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P6UU6m3cqk
httpv://youtu.be/Gbp_JQ7RxqM
even better, play 'em both at the same time
"Minnesota just doing the little things." -Hawk
Against the White Sox, yeah. That's why it's so much fun to play them.
Love that chip shot by tonsillitis
Well, for fun.
Ohman! White Flag!!!
WTF, Tonsils?
This inning is a Twins Baseball inning. Except for that last play.
Did a little thing poorly there.
Argh, base running errors make hulk angry.
Okay, then.
I would expect nothing less of the SSS crew.
This might tie it together for you.
I am impressed. That link made me dislike Beckham far more than I already did.
those kinds of jokes were funny when we were young and stupid. Oh, wait. Beckham is young and stupid.
Yeah, he is young and stupid, but I don't think that's an excuse for being a d-bag.
Yea, the world has changed (for the better) since I was young and stupid.
Yeah, same here. Though my young and stupid years aren't all that long ago.
I won't be happy until we have blackout on the Twins boxscore in both Runs and RBIs
That crease in the sod in left field bothers me.
TK: (on Rios) I don't want any young kids playing like this...
Me: hahhahhahahah
Afternoon, gents.
Hey Twayn!
Howdy, Twayn. Just finishin' up the homestand before the break.
Wow. No correct answers on the trivia question yet. 1985 A-Ss who played for the Twins at some point.
Herr, G. Nettles, T. Kennedy?, Winfield, Morris, Reardon, Blyleven, Bruno, Ward.
yeah, I forgot Nettles, otherwise had the rest
You Battey'd Paul Molitor
Yup.
Nice play, Nishi.
TK doubted Nishi there.
I'm liking Nishi's glovework more and more.
My theory is that he's just now getting over jetlag.
I think its the fact his english is getting better.....
And he isn't afraid that his leg will get broken....
He's got sweet range and seems to be more comfortable out there fielding now.
Pity run.
C'mon Smokestack.
This isn't funny anymore, Splishsplash.
Oh good Burnett & Dumatrait warming up in the bullpen. I should probably put some rum in this Coke.
Grr. Walking Done is not desirable. Put Quentin away, Sugarsnap.
That was a sweet pitch sequence against Quentin.
Toronto pounding the Clevelands today, 7-1 in the 9th.
and the Royals are helpless against Verlander, 0-2 in the 8th.
Another opportunity to tag Crain.
No SOC OR BOSO in effect. Wasted opportunity.
I can't get excited about a Crain appearance leading by 4.
All. Star.
Here we go....
Crain does field his position well.
Cuddy now up to .299. His MLB career high is .284. He hit .309 in half a season at AAA in 2002 and .301 in a full season of AA in 2001.
Alex Burnett -- is Gardy taunting Ozzie??
I think he's taunting me.
what the heck - why not?
oh, wait -- that's why not.
that's why not.
TK saying Richard never gets old.
He slipped! I heard Dick!
I hate Alex Burnett. So much.
Put in Smashup.
Gah. Save us, Glen.
God, Burnett needs to be off this major league roster. DFA him during the game.
If only we had a pitcher with two first names to take his place.
Joe Nathan is already on the roster. Oh, you meant AMR's boyfriend.
I didn't realize Hoey was a first name.
mebbe Tommy John, Nolan Ryan, Dizzy Dean, Satchel Paige, Cliff Lee, Gaylord Perry, Jim Perry...
Grover Cleveland (Pete) Alexander, Steve Carlton, Lefty Gomez, Waite Hoyt, Addie Joss, Jim Palmer, Babe Ruth, Dazzy Vance, Hoyt Wilhelm, Monte Ward....
I'd take 'em all.
I hate stupid fans.
Burnett's done his job with the SOC. Can he go away now?
okay guys, I gotta go catch a plane. Bring it on home
Teahan got 3 right down the middle and waved through the last one. Nice pitching, Burnett.
Noodle vs. Turtle -- goes to the turtle.
Yeah, Beckham, just barely check into third base to set up that sacrifice with two outs. Good move.
Perkins is ridiculous right now.
Thank you, Ponyboy.
That was total Perk work.
Now let him pitch the 8th.
And the 9th.
What's Japanese for 'this ump sucks'?
Ill hit up some of my old Japanese acquaintances for the real baseball lingo. Google Translate leaves much to be desired in this area.
Still, we have the heart of our order up this inning!
Bottom 4 have 4 RBI today.
my point 'xactly. The Grindiest.
Iced. Ack.
On the bright side, just saw the Dido banner. Sweet.
It's been up for about three minutes. You're an F5-ing madman.
You're an F5-ing madman.
You talk to your mother with that mouth?
It's the only F5-ing mouth I have...
Hulk angry.
That was stupid, Canada.
I really prefer the "embarrass the hell out of them" wins over the ChiSox to the "cut their hearts out, then let them crawl back in" wins.
SoCal is online finally. Thanks Meat for filling in.
Not a problem.
The bench is a familiar place for Dunn.
Yeah, being annoyed that the Hosers picked him up seems like so long ago...
Since he was hurt when the deal was made, I never was that upset with it. They traded one of their starters out of their rotation in a pennant race for Peavy, who could only make a handful of starts. They had a terrible time filling the spot for Clayton until Peavy came back and by then it was too late if memory serves.
Sit down, Parkman.
The sux fans are going to tear Dunn limb from limb one of these days.
Gameday put all of those pitches to Done on the black.
Old Paint.
Perkins is such a boss.
Set your DVR now.
Yankees likely to make more money on that documentary than the Royals annual payroll.
thanks for rickrolling me.
At least Perkins can go more than one and pitch effectively. He definitely needs to stay out of the closer role so he can be used the most to maximize his value. I'd still rather have Nathan closing, though. His innings are being limited anyways.
A Hosmer double puts the tying run on 2nd with nobody out for the Royals. C'mon, Royals!
...and he's thrown out trying to steal 3rd. WTF.
I'm wondering if that wasn't trying to advance on a wild pitch? That would make more sense, but wow that is disappointing.
Gameday doesn't say. Maybe there'll be a video.
Straight steal attempt. Dumb dumb dumb.
Eject Anthony.
high, but on the black. swing the bat, Replicant.
Laddie off to the races!
sweet. How about a bingle now, Joe??? A Geico would be really, really nice.
Why do two-out triples disappoint me? Although ensuring Cuddyer comes up with two men on base does please me.
Awesome! One of the few ways Casilla needed to be on third to score! Woo-hoo!
or mebbe The All-Star could get one in his wheelhouse.
Make 'em pay All Star.
Tee hee. Nice work, Anthony.
Heh.
Twins baseball!
Thanks, Anthony.
Hehehehe.
TwinsWhite Sox baseball!!Mac N Myer, there.
That looked like a balk to me.
Now for a BOSO.
3 really isn't enough for Crapps, but it leaves a little more room to pull him.
Yeah, he can load the bases now before Gardy pulls him.
That was a classic Cuddy "swing at anything" AB.
Strike three on the breaking ball down and away was so predictable.
to be fair, a lot of people swing and miss at Santos' slider. its so darn natsy
Another routine Capps out.
Jeebus, Capps, don't throw any more pitches there.
All Capps' outs are hit 390 feet.
Closers have to know where the warning track is, I guess.
Shut up, Dazzle!!!!!!
OK. You're forgiven.
1 loud out. 2 to go.
Sigh. Here we go again.
I am so done with Capps.
I never got started.
Obligatory, Jr.
Nice turn there, Nishi.
Nifty, Nishi.
Hi folks! Just got back home to see that double play.
Sweet turn by Nishi!
Oh, yea. Sweet end. Puppy Burgers!!!
Don't say that around Capps, he might trample someone trying to get to the burgers!
That looks like Newfoundland, or maybe Labrador.
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLBGq1PfhiY
That'll do, pig, that'll do.
Nice DP to end the game.
Puppies!! Lots of puppies!!
That'll do, Capps.
three hard hit balls for three outs. I guess!
Which is why it is always better to be hittable than wild. Of course, if Capps was wild, he wouldn't be the closer anymore.
Well, that works. Twins win!
6.5 back. That divisional stretch out of the break will really shake things out.
Twelve games in the division, all at home. I like our chances there.
Twins are closer to first place in the division than they were in both 2003 and 2006 at the All-Star break. Twins are 24-11 since June 2.
I can't believe they still have a chance after the way this season started, but I'll take it!
Web gem. But it wasn't behind his back.
Twins Win!! Lets the dogs out!
I like that one even better than the three puppy one, bootsy! That kinda looks like the Eye of Sauron on top, though.
Either the puppy is spooked by the fireworks, or he is leery of Capps' appetite.
