After about 1:30 of banter, probably my favorite Cake song.

Or be nice and don't rate them.
Nice track. The base progression reminds me of the hummed intro on Simon & Garfunkel's "America"
3/4 Represent!
i'm more of a 6/8 man myself.
Of the many things I never understood when I was taking music lessons was any time signature that wasn't X/X (3/3, 4/4).
the bottom number signifies the note value (4 = quarter note, 8 = eighth note, etc.), and the top signifies number of beats per measure.
Yeah, I've had it explained to me a million different ways, but something just doesn't click. I can't get how you can have 3 quarter notes in a measure. Doesn't that make them 3rd notes or something?
Just think of the measures as being 3/4 as large as a 4/4 measure, and your quarter notes still work for you.
I'd never heard this before. parts sound like a slowed-down version of "Breakfast at Tiffany's".
I gave the intro an 11.
I've heard this and every Cake song about a billion times. This one's not nearly my favorite on its album, but it's from my favorite Cake album.

Never understood the appeal of these guys. Then again, I love Deerhoof...
I feel like if I discovered them now, I might not be so big on them. They showed up on my radar at a time where I hadn't looked all that hard for great music, though, and they became a habit.
will these guys go down as one of the greats? very unlikely. however, i still think they're a pretty decent act. i love the simplistic, yet highly catchy riffs that their guitar player(s?) laid down, and they got a lot more mileage out of the trumpet shtick than i would have thought possible. not one of my favorite bands, but they've put out a respectable body of work that i still spin every now and then.
