It's a birthday celebration at the Casa de Leche. I suggest a Kelly Wells film festival!

What are going to do the rest of the day? Happy birthday, spoons and may your IMDB page get populated a little more in the next year, and not in ways like your "namesake".
Well, during the day, the Milkmaid is at work and Skim is at school, so Sour Cream and I will just be hanging as always. After that, I think the Milkmaid has some plan, but I'm not sure what that is. A beer tour seems to be involved, though I'm not sure that's out of this house or in it.
The tickets for tomorrow night's NLDS game were part of my birthday gift, too.
By the way, this is as good of a day as any to thank you for all you've done with this site. Thanks! I really enjoy it.
Dido and Happy Birthday.
What SBG said. Thanks to you and all those who keep this site going. Without it, my life would be less enjoyable. I'd have more time, but it would be less enjoyable.
Agreed, this place is awesome. Thanks to everyone who makes it that way.
Thanks, man. I'm glad to contribute what I can and to have people around me who do what I can't.
Dido. Not LTEing as much as you boyos, but certainly a daily fix to catch up on Wgom Rasta.
I agree with the site sentiments, and happy birthday. And may you enjoy a trip to exotic wonderlands through fermented malt sugar.
HBD and enjoy the tour!
bah! i totally forgot about the hockey draft. i went and checked on it, and saw that there wasn't any comments, activities, etc, so i reset the draft. however, i now see that magoo and the hitman might have been around. i'm really sorry if anyone put a lot of work, got a great team, etc.
anyway, as mentioned, i reset the draft to wednesday at 8:30pm CT (i'd like to make it a little earlier, but this was the best until about 5pm CT. we still have room for a few more teams, and i'd love to get two more.
i'll send out few more reminders so that maybe we'll pay attention this time... :$ (sorry again, y'all)
I didn't attend the draft at all. I was at a concert. I will probably be able to make Wednesday.
Do you think we can make the draft later, maybe 30/45 minutes? If not, not big deal. I will just draft Sabres players in the later rounds instead of the early ones.
done. the draft is now on wednesday at 9pm CT.
I'll try to be there, but I can't promise anything. The trinket hasn't had a #2 in a couple of days and is not quiet about it, so I'm not finding as much free time right now.
I kinda liked my auto-drafted squad.
With how much I know about fantasy hockey, I had no idea whether I should have liked my auto-drafted squad or not.
This.
i didn't even look at my team, but if i had, i probably would have had little idea if it was any good or not.
This is going to be the greatest fantasy league ever.
I was at the page waiting for the lobby, then my wife called me away. I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to do if I actually had to draft a team, but whatever - I guess we'll find out on Wednesday.
I see this was addressed yesterday. Still, bears repeating.
I enjoyed the negative votes to my comment on the Strib article.
Heh, I just watched that episode last night.
First Monday Book Day may not arrive until evening. Please contain yourselves.
Scroll down to Number 2 here and read the hilariously snarky stuff directed at Bernard Berrian last night.
I was reading some of those from scout.com earlier- the David Brown ones make me laugh, since he's the weekend anchor of KELO (CBS affiliate) based in Sioux Falls, so I've seen him doing the news for a couple years.
The grapes in the microwave thing (#5) is also funny to me, because I was just telling a guy at work about nuking grapes last week. I'm easily amused.
Newscut (that linked blog) easily is my favorite Minnesota-centric website for keeping me both enlightened and entertained.
I can't believe I am letting Boardwalk Empire draw me back in this season.
Interestingly enough, when commenting on a fellow collector's blog this weekend, but Blogger word verification I had to enter was "strib"
If any twin cities-based Citizens like Shakespeare, and specifically Hamlet, the current production of Hamlet at the Jungle theater at Lake and Lyndale is very good and highly recommended.
Argh, I'd kill to see that.
Checking to see if I know anyone in it...hmm. I was only able to find names for a few leads, none of whom I know. I know director Joe Dowling's work, though, and it's generally very strong.
It's is a very contemporary version, characters checking their I-phones, skyping, etc. Hamlet is kinda emo, Horatio looks like a bike messenger, etc. Don't let that turn you off however, it's quite good.
I know who Dowling is, and was surprised to see him directing at the Jungle. I did see the link you presented, but I also saw something else with his name attached so I got crossed up somewhere. Now I'm looking for where that happened. Huh.
Yeah, duh. Of course you know who Joe Dowling is, didn't mean for it to come across like that.
Ophelia on Lithium? Claudius on Savage Love?
Ophelia on Lithium? Actually I think it's crystal meth.
I prefer my "Hamlet" in motorcycle-based media.
I once saw The Pirates of Penzance done with motorcycle gangs back in the day at Carleton. Looking on teh Interwebs, I guess that this is a thing with that operetta.
I'll say it before, and I'll say it again... there is no show worse than The Pirates of Penzance. free, I hope no one in your family was involved in the travesty performed by Holy Angels a few years ago. My family wasn't so lucky.
Huh. You and The Boy seem to carry the same dislike in musicals. Then again, I've never seen the two of you in the same room together. Hmmm.
(I, on the other hand, rather enjoyed the Pirates performance I mentioned; of course, there may have been alcohol involved).
I'm not sure if I'm understanding correctly, but for clarification I enjoy musicals (except for Pirates and A Chorus Line).
and the Boy has professed his extreme dislike of Gilbert & Sullivan in general, and Pirates in specific, at least with respect to the music. (conversely, my daughter seems to like the Pirates' songbook)
Took the niece this spring to a production of Teh Pirates of Penzance at Harvard's Agassiz last April - fun had by all - show completely produced/run by students, it's the largest independent theatrical organization at H'vard, producing 2 operettas each year - mebbe HMS Pinafore this season.
Back in college, a group of us had our significant others away for the weekend and went to see Pinafore at some bible college in the suburbs or exurbs. (I didn't drive, don't even remember which direction we went.) Having only known what I heard from Sideshow Bob from "Cape Feare", I had a good time.
Back in college, a group of us had our significant others away for the weekend and went to see Pinafore at some bible college in the suburbs or exurbs.
and swinging bachelors all you were.
Two bachelors, two bachelorettes.
We piled into the one car that any of us had: a red Geo Metro, which could get to 55 with four people if you floored it.
I agree with the pirate on Pirates. Fortunately no one in the family was involved in that one.
I haven't seen the Pirates of Penzance (other than excerpts on The Simpsons and Mad About You), but this is one of my favorite Veggie Tales:
Sheenie and I had talked about going. Now maybe I'll remind her. We did see "A Don't Hug Me County Fair" at Camp a few weekends ago and it was pretty entertaining.
EEE & MMM will be up eventually. I'm working on the Prediction Contest sheet now that I'm not at work were Google Docs is blocked.
Virus warning! Our desktop computer at home got infected over the weekend with Open Cloud AV, a variant of the Open Cloud Antivirus malware from a few months ago. It appears to be spreading mainly via drive-by download from compromised websites. This one is particularly nasty as it runs a process on startup that I've been unable to kill. The rogue process prevents running or updating anti-virus and anti-malware programs, as well as certain Windows administrative tools. Since my XP installation on that computer is more than 2 years old, I'm just going to back up all of my data files to a portable drive, format the C: drive and do a clean install of Windows. I would recommend doing a manual update of your anti-virus and anti-malware programs, and beefing up your browser security settings. And hey! Let's be careful out there.
Knowing the organization's luck, he'll probably blow an ACL while walking to pick up the award.
I've had three baseball-team caps in my life that were not Twins related:
STL Cards (mesh-back youth), Oakland A's (My first Fitted, it was cheap), and Albany Polecats. Here's a good picture of the cap on the only notable player from the team to make the majors.
This is the only one of those three that I can still wear. In fact, I wore it yesterday.
It's an adjustable wool cap, and it's big enough so I can wear it without over-extending the strap. (Not that I've looked for a while, but it seemed to be a problem finding one-size-fits-all caps that fit my 7 5/8 head.)
My similarly-sized melon feels your pain.
Updating my top300 list was a lot more depressing than usual this year.
Not a whole lot of movement, especially for those near the top. Mauer stays at 6, Morneau stays at 14, Nathan stays at 20.
Cuddy moves up 9 spots to 27 in between Tovar and Koskie. Kubel can't jump Lyman into the top50, but moves up 4 spots to #51, Baker up 16 spots to #56, Span up 7 spots to #62. Not much movemement from Liriano (79) or _elm_n (87). Pavano gets into the top100 to 94, but Thome stalls out at 108.
Blackburn up 9 spots to 110, Duensing up about 20 spots to 117. Slowey drops back to 119.
Valencia, Perkins, and Casilla move up a little but neither into the top150. Mijares stays pat at 222.
Capps and Revere the only 2 additions to the top 300 sitting at 251 and 253 respectively. Tolbert holds down the #300 spot again.
Can we throw a party when Tolbert drops out the top 300?
I really almost dropped him, but he hung on by the slimmest of margins as Billy Martin was dropped off the list. Tolbert and Martin share a 65 OPS+ as a Twin, but Tolbert has played almost twice as much (605 at bats vs 374)
On the other hand, it's actually fun to think about Billy Martin from time to time.
plus "punching out Matt Tolbert" has a whole different meaning from "punching out Billy Martin"!!!!
If Span can move up seven spots after that season, then there must not be much difference in those spots.
Well, Span actually had a halway decent (half) season. 3rd most valuable Twin behind Baker and Cuddyer according fo rWAR (2.6), 4th most valuable Twin behind Beker, Cuddyer, and Pavano according to BP's BWARP (2.0) and 4th in fWAR (2.2) behind those same 3 Twins. And yes, the guys he moved ahead of: AJ, Castino, Disco Dan Ford, Latroy, Allan Anderson, Geoff Zahn, Mike Marshall, Gary Ward (he moved ahead of 8 guys, but Baker jumped him) all have pretty similar looking Twins resumes.
Brian Dozier will be blogging about his experiences in the Arizona Fall League.

I'm so old that I can remember when Joe Namath embarrassed himself by coming on to perky sideline reporters. Now, it's all just GOML.
Woah, somehow I read that as Joe Nathan, and was all sorts of confused when the video started playing......... /heh.
No word on whether the seventh seal was broken.
