*wakes up, tumbles out of bed*
*stumbles to kitchen rubbing bloodshot eyes*
*poor brain tries to process lack of coffee*
*finally realizes that there is none, and fumbles around until there is*

Last night I got to go out with the Milkmaid - just the two of us - for the first time in...a year? Two? I'm not exaggerating. It was awesome, but I think that's what pushed the Cup out of my head.
Last night I made my debut as a football public address announcer, manning the mike for the Gettysburg-Hoven Battlers football game. I'd done P. A. for baseball, basketball, and volleyball, but never football before. I had a great time, and it was helped by the fact that the local nine (it's nine-man football) won the game easily.
My three years in North Sioux City made me forget how big high school football is around here. We're a small town without a radio station, and our record is only 4-3, but all but one of our games has been on the radio someplace. The other high school in my parish, Sully Buttes, is in an even smaller town, but has had every game broadcast. You go around the dial on a Friday night, and about all you can find is high school football.
so, channelled your best Ted Knight, did you? 😉
I hope you've gotten the feel for name pronunciation in the area. I know where I grew up, there were three different teams in the district with a Stene boy playing, and none of them pronounced it the same (STEE-nee, STEN-ah, STEEN)
Was that Frank N. Stene?
Actually, I try to channel my inner Bob Casey.
The area is not that different from where I grew up, but I try to go over all the names with someone each time. Inevitably, somebody's name is pronounced in a way that you would never guess by looking at it.

Spooky knows what you mean.
Yeah, I was thinking of bringing that up here. Mackey?! I hate you now.
It was only a matter of time.
"NoooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Smoking in Gettysburgh Stadium!"
I do the P.A. for the Bloomington Christian Ravens boys basketball team. I did it for the first time last year and had a blast doing it. The school's AD asked me to do football this fall, but I couldn't make it to two of the three home games, so I told him he should probably find someone else this year and I would try to do it the next year.
Michigan-Michigan St are both were alternate uniforms today. Michigan's are pretty sweet while Michigan State's are just awful. Dark green, gold and black. belch.
Balls, ESPN3 doesn't work over here.
Hector Salamanca twitter feed.
That's precisely what I hoped it would be.
I can't stop giggling.
Glad to know I'm not the only one.
Bad day for AMR, he's getting raked over the coals in werewolf and now Kim and Thurston announce they're separating up.
And SY could be separating, too. Frown.
Immediately after reading this last night I found out that one of my favorite bands (the pAper chAse) broke up last year without me knowing it. Pretty crushing music night.
WTF???
This is my fault. Last night I saw my tenth HHT show. I've seen SY nine times. Their marriage couldn't hold up knowing that I'd replaced them.
Speaking of awful unis, the h.s. opponent last night was sporting white jerseys with silver numerals.unbelievably bad. The numerals were all but unreadable.
Runner daughter had her first run-in with alcohol last night. They had a designated driver and all, so we were happy to hear that at least, but she was pretty miserable this morning after her 4-5 drinks (hard lemonade?) and has having problems keeping anything down. I think that lesson will stick.
funny, but it doesn't usually stick for very long. I hope it does for her.
If it was Hard Lemonade, maybe the heartburn will keep her away.
at the very least, it'll teach her not to drink that crap again.
Well, now she thinks it was a bug. One of her coworkers went through the same thing, it seems.
Meanwhile, my bottle of Mike's is in the fridge for tomorrow's ballgame...
heh, now she says it's a bug. oh boy, i can't wait to go through this in future years...
She's just short of 21, so I consider my hands washed.
If you got her to 20 without a previous alcohol run-in, I'd say your part of the job is done.
What's that, telling your kid(s) you musta picked up a bug last night?
Yeah, a bug. That's it. A bug.
After work once, we went to Dave and Busters. I had a bunch of beer but not that much.
But something in my tummy wasn't right.
I made it to the bathroom and into the toilet, but my breath and my hand smelled.
Luckily, it was close to the time we were leaving, and the co-worker who was my ride kept my confidence.
I think I ate too damned much and then added a lot of liquid volume on top of that.
Either people leave their WGOM window open all night or need to get to bed at a better time. It's 2AM in the Central Time Zone. This does remind me though, that my first-thing-in-the-morning WGOM'ing is pretty slow until you all start waking up and getting to work, usually around my lunch time.
People close their WGOM window? This sounds unlikely to me.
I might as well not. I have a bookmark on the toolbar that I will re-click as soon as I close the tab. It's worse than a rat in a Skinner Box.
