I've been pretty absent here the past few weeks, I've been very busy at work. My absence will continue over the weekend: I'm driving up to Swanville, MN to hunt deer. At my great-uncle-in-law's. Both my father and father-in-law are in the hunting party. Which I quite enjoy.
-----
As I mentioned earlier, my week's soundtrack has been pretty much 70% Beyoncé (with 20% Merle, and 10% Random). When I put together my end-of-the-year lists, her new album 4 is going to be hard to file: an 8-song album might challenge* Colin Stetson, but those other five or so songs are still there on the album, and she might not get listed at all. At the same time, there's too many good songs for me to pick just one for my singles list (which is where I put songs not on listed albums: otherwise both lists would pretty much be copies of each other.
*Or maybe it's just a brief infatuation with the record and I'll be sick of it by December 1.
I like Kanye West's work, but I hope he never again shows up on a Beyoncé album. Three seconds into "Party", and three seconds of his voice, and I'm hitting the "next track" button.
So anyways, share your list.

*I was recently was watching an episode of "How I Met Your Mother" (because it seems like its on every channel these days) and Lily wanted this song played at her wedding. Marshall went out to find a good band and found The 88 was playing at a local prom and decided to check them out and hilarity ensues.
Well anywho, turns out The 88 is a real band and they do the theme song to my favorite show "Community" and are the backing band for Ray Davies as he tours around America. crazy
** I think I would enjoy some more 60's Bollywood music in my collection. There is a Heinekin beer commercial that uses some Bollywood music and I really enjoy that. Kinda makes me want to dance
I remember that "HIMYM" and I knew The 88 did the "Community" song, but I never realized they were one and the same.

Spent most of the week listening to Zack's rec from last week (Larsen - Cool Cruel Mouth). Puscifer's new album was disappointing on the first listen, but I'll probably give it another shot. I also picked up Husky Burnette - Facedown in the Dirt which is pretty good modern blues rock stuff (although the voice takes a little getting used to).
I've joined the Spotify addicts around here. But hey, here are some songs I own.

Notes:
1. Baby Mammoth was one of the three primary acts on the Hull-based Pork Recordings label, along with Fila Brazillia and Bullitnuts. All were instrumental trip-hop in the Cup of Tea/Ninja Tune vein. (Not in the Bristolean Portishead/Massive Attack vein.) Pork was my favorite label in the late 90's, and I have almost all of their albums numbered below 60 (not 60 CDs though, most of their releases were 12" singles -- of which I have about a dozen). I think I'm just missing Solid Doctor's Beats Means Highs. I think this is Baby Mammoth's best album, although Swimming helped me through a very tough finals.
5. This is probably the last Björk album I buy off her reputation. The best song off this album might be no better than the fifth-best on her previous album, Volta, which was her low point until now.
0. Talking Heads cover, free online single, but I don't have time to see if it's still available.
Deer Opener? Don't mind if I do.

with a different vocalist, I would really like that.
With a different vocalist, it wouldn't be the 'hoof. (I really don't understand the ire for Satomi's vocals.)
then again, you're a big newsom fan 😉
Fair enough. I like Screamin' Jay, too.
pfft. he doesn't even sound like music to me.
Harry Morgan did the Monster Mash.
I don't get the ire, either, really. They're a bit strange, but it works so well with all the strange compositions the 'Hoof use.
No ire, she's just not my cup of tea. But I like the rest of their sound. Diff'rent strokes.
I just listened to that, and I'm with bS on this one.
(not that my musical opinion carries any weight 'round these parts.)
What no Deer Tick?
