Episode 1 of WGOM Radio is in the bag, with a minimum of technical difficulties, "um"s, "like"s, and awkward pauses. Please join me and my co-host spookymilk, and our guests Rhubarb_Runner and sean, as we discuss the Twins' offseason moves, as well as some of the moves from around the league.
Our next podcast is going to be T'Wolves-centric, so if anyone would be up for such a discussion, please make yourselves known in the comments.
Holy schnikes! It worked!
I would've joined up for this one if I wasn't burned out from this week at the other site, so since I do intend to be a semi-regular contributor, you can probably put me down for the next one.
If you're burned out from modding, you should re-join the village!
Yeah, as it turned out I could have joined this week but I forgot.
Love the concept. I'm sure it will even get better as time goes on.
In case anyone wants to listen on iTunes, MediaMonkey, Banshee, etc. you can use THIS RSS FEED for the podcast. I just tried it on Banshee on Ubuntu and it worked like a charm.
I dunno, it felt phoned in. 😉
speaking of which, did people call in on phones or was it through a computer program using headphones/microphone?
Yes.*
*damn that boolean logic
Headphones & mics on Skype, and then I recorded the conversation in Audacity*.
*Turns out the Skype Recorder App worked correctly. I was wrong earlier during recording.
subscribed on itunes. i'll most likely listen to it on my walk to the bus stop come monday.
That was fun. I enjoy hearing people talk baseball during the winter.
You're having winter?!
It was below freezing for a statistically significant* part of the day today!
*a couple hours
Wow, this is soooo cool. I wondered if this would ever happen on this site.
Just curious, how do you do the show if you're in different locations? Is that explained in the show?
Skype. Mags set up a conference call and recorded all of us.
I like sean's World Series picks. Not to actually make the World Series, but it was funny.
I felt a bit like Admiral Stockdale.
I thought everyone did very well.
So did I.
More hits than Drew Butera. Not as many as Jason Marquis.
Hopefully the Calf won't schedule another visit to the zoo the next time you are recording. I am still interested in joining in the future.
We'll need you and Stick for the Wolves episode.
nevermind, i couldn't wait. great job, guys. i'd love to get in on that sometime (though the wolves episode probably won't be the best opportunity for me).
This was a lot of fun. I must have had at least ten B-R tabs open looking up every player as quickly as I could.
Just one for me. Marquis is the standard by which all players are held to.
I need to get a USB mic/headphone combo. I was trying not to type or use the mouse because my mic is right near the left pinky on my keyboard.
This is what I used. It's designed for the Xbox 360, but worked just fine with Skype.
Kudos all around. It was fun putting voices to
facesavatars.Very first podcast I've ever listened to.
I think the Royals look at the weak division and say "Why not this year?" Win the division with 88 wins.
Tigers will be second, 84 wins. Then a big gap:
CLE 73-89
MIN 70-92
CWS 63-99.
Maybe I am off my rocker but I see no reason the Twins cant push for. 500, at least.
Yeah, I don't think we should be getting our hopes up or anything, but it doesn't seem like any foregone conclusion that they'll be so horrible next year. Last year was pretty much a lesson in Murphy's Law. I think they've signed some pieces that won't necessarily make them playoff contenders, but things shouldn't be quite so embarrassing.
They could. But this is my prediction. I typically guess pessimistic on the Twins so I'm more likely to be pleasantly surprised than not. Of course, I think last year's prediction was Twins in second with 88 wins or so, so my pessimism was too optimistic. (ChiSox first, Tigs third, Royals 4th, and Cleveland last.)
I would love to get involved with the Wolves discussion, but can't guarantee anything right now. Pencil me in, though, I want to lavish heaps of praise on Lubio.
I should really be there for that.
Nice job guys, really enjoyed listening. You were right, it was pretty much exactly this site. I especially loved how no one considered one of the AL East teams for the World Series. (Just like the playoff picks from this last year, no one picked the Yankees to win it all)
Magoo sort of jumped to the conclusion that we had all picked the Rangers, but I was only picking them for the division - I was ready to say "The Yankees haven't sullied a World Series with their presence in a few years. I expect them to do so this year."
You know what, you're right. I didn't even realize I made that jump. Sorry guys.
it was pretty much exactly this site.
This was my precise thought after listening. Which I guess shouldn't be surprising, but it was amazing how it quickly just fell into an uncanny facsimile of a WGOM LTE thread.
A very rough lineup for the TWolves pod:
Me
DK
Buffalo?
cheaptoy?
Stick?
Ideally, I'd like to record this episode this week. I'm travelling Friday-Saturday and then adjusting for a few days. And once I'm in Prague, our most realistic time for recording is weekend mornings (Central) / afternoon (Czech). I'm thinking either Tuesday or Thursday because of the off days, or maybe Wednesday while the game is on.
Any thoughts, either re: participating or scheduling?
I can do post 7pm cst anytime this week.
I think any weeknight evening this week after 7 works as of now.
Yeah, I'm with those guy that after 7 pm should work. Of course, I need to see if I can find some means of speaking and hearing first.
Wednesday night is out -- travel day.
Would Tuesday be best for you Stick so you can spend Thursday with your fam?
Tuesday would work.
Emails sent to everyone above, plus Spooky. Let me know if you don't get it.
