2012 Game Logs: Game 20 Lakers @ Wolves

The Lakers franchise returns home tonight to find a Wolves team that is not the push over LA has been used to. Here is some facts about this game bullet point style

  • The Lakers have beaten the Wolves 15 games in a row.
  • The Wolves, with a win, will have a .500 record.
  • The Lakers are 1-7 on the road this season.
  • There probably isn't a more difficult place to play on the road than the Target Center.
  • Josh McRoberts is the third best player on the Lakers. He would be the 10th best player on the Wolves.
  • Last season the Wolves allowed 107.7 ppg. So far this season the Wolves have improved this number to 93.5ppg.
  • The Lakers have never won a game being played at the same time as the Pro Bowl when being played the week before the Super Bowl in their franchise history (0-1).
  • This will be the first match up between JJ Barea and Andrew Bynum since Bynum attempted to murder Barea in last year's playoffs. If you think JJ isn't gunning for Bynum, well, you've got another thing coming.
  • Vegas realizes all of these things and as a result have made the Lakers 1.5 underdogs to the giant killing Minnesota Timberwolves.

Today has the possibilty of being a really fun game, you guys.

  1. This will be the first match up between JJ Barea and Andrew Bynum since Bynum attempted to murder Barea in last year's playoffs. If you think JJ isn't gunning for Bynum, well, you've got another thing coming.

I get the feeling Bynum is going to need to cut some weight if he wants to take on Barea. Otherwise, they'll have to fight at catchweight.

  2. Upon further review McRoberts is the 4th best player on the Lakers. I was being too disrespesctful towards Kobe.

  3. Today I found out that Kevin Love's middle name is Wesley. I'm not sure what to do with this information.

  4. The Luke to Pek alley opp is not as pretty as the Rubiob to Williams-oop.

    1. It looks like the Boss and Cuddy are going at it on twitter. I'd rather watch that than Gasol.

      1. Moses Malone one year after leading the league in offensive rebounds (again): "I'd like to thank my teammates...for missing so many shots."

          1. Moses was a career .495 shooter. His career best of offensive rebounds came in a season he shot .540.

              1. Actually, he missed one on Jan. 12, but he claims the refs missed a foul, so he doesn't count that as a missed rebound.

  5. I'm ready to trade or cut Beasley. He didn't learn anything sitting on the bench watching the team win without him, did he?

  6. Awesome. I finally get to watch a Wolves game. Haven't seen one since the free preview on NBA.com.

  7. Twitter is the best re: SCB

Puff, puff, contested midrange jumper. RT @eyedialect: @steventurous his friends must hate smoking weed with him.

  8. I suppose I should watch this to prepare for the upcoming podcast. I'll turn over as soon as the Hoosiers are done laying the smackdown on the Hawkeyes.

  9. Gah, so I went down to the fridge to grab a beer, opened up, and there staring at me was the pot I used to boil my priming sugar for the black IPA I bottled yesterday. That pot being there means none of its sugary contents were in any of the bottles I capped. I am not happy.

      1. He is lucky JJ isn't playing tonight. Revenge is a dish best served with extra elbows.

        1. You'd think he'd be unlucky that Pekovic is playing. I want vengeance for that crap that Rambis did nothing about, dammit!

      2. Yeah, that dude has made some inexcusable moves in his career. I'm wondering if the NBA will give him a healthy suspension before somebody gets seriously hurt.

  10. Lakers shoot 54% in the first half, Wolves shoot only 38% and we're still only down by 2.

  11. The second half isn't going to go all that well if the Lakers get 3 points each possession and the Wolves only get 2.

  12. Kobe gave Ricky a bloody nose???

I predict a dark, quiet encounter with Pekovic as he walks to his car after the game.

    1. I'm going to continue to be shocked by it every game he does it, but it sure seems like his skill set leans that way.

    2. With Love shooting more 3s, that leaves more chances for rebounds for Pek on the offensive end.

    1. I completely lost my feed, but I'm going to assume it was lost because of either Ridnour/Beasley or the refs.

          1. But I like my assumption better, because if its the former, it can be removed. (but yeah, I know you guys are right.)

    2. Sure had a chance late. Too bad this was the game that the Lakers remembered that Gasol is a good post player.

  13. once the wolves figure out how to stop dropping down by 15 in the 3rd, this could be a really decent team.

    1. Well they seem to have figured out the "not getting down by 15 in the first quarter" part. Baby steps.

        1. Well sure, but the next logical quarter to do it in is the fifth, and overtime games don't happen that often. So soon they'll be wining 90%, or so, of their games!

  14. I know this feels like a moral victory because the Wolves were down 18 and this was the Lakers but Minnesota really should have won this game.

    1. Man, Canis is really putting some hard facts onto this loss on the twitter here.

    2. SSS just bit the Wolves in the butt. They totally outplayed the Lakers but just had a terrible time getting the ball to fall in the hole. It happens in basketball just like in baseball, but it seems like fans don't acknowledge it as much in basketball. That comeback was fun to watch. Too bad they were so far down when they went on the run. It probably took too much out of them.

  15. that game was fun, and disappointing at the same time. Just one of those games where the jump shot didnt fall.

Kobe Bryant is soooo good, but man I just cant like the guy. maybe its because it seems like he drops 50 points on the Wolves every game.

I can get used to 'Pek and Roll' (I bet they ran that play 5 times and 4 times it worked), that dude is so nimble around the offensive rim, but as noted during the game log its amazing he doesnt get more defensive rebounds

    1. but man I just cant like the guy. maybe its because it seems like he drops 50 points on the Wolves every game.

At the risk of telling you what you're thinking, I believe not being able to like Kobe has little to do with how much he scores on the Wolves and more to do with, oh I don't know, something like this.

  16. oof

    Twolves_PR
The #Twolves 104 FGA are the most in a regulation game since going 33-108 @SA on Feb. 6, 1999 (96-82 loss). Minnesota drops to 9-11.

    they were 40-104
