    1. The best parts are as follows:

Carmelo Anthony’s discontent with the Knicks organization became so severe after Monday night’s loss to the Bulls, he told a confidant he preferred to be traded before Thursday’s trade deadline, The Post has learned.

According to a person familiar with his thinking, Anthony’s disillusionment stems most from a belief coach Mike D’Antoni and interim GM Glen Grunwald do not trust him. He is surprised that after all the Knicks gave up to trade for him, he has not been asked for more input on personnel decisions, as Deron Williams has with the Nets.

      And then the money line

“The organization makes believe his opinions don’t matter,’’ the source said.

Really the whole article is just terrific.

      1. I came here to post this:

It is lost on no one that the Knicks' free-fall coincides precisely with the return of Anthony. While Anthony was out with a groin injury, the Knicks won 6 of 7 games, including victories over the Los Angeles Lakers and defending champion Dallas Mavericks. With Lin leading D'Antoni's offense, the Knicks played fast and free, spacing the floor, hitting the open man, and even improving defensively.

But the day Anthony returned, the Knicks lost to the struggling New Jersey Nets, starting a sorry stretch that has washed away all the feel-good emotions of Lin's emergence and left them on the verge of missing the playoffs.

Moss can attest to the fact that I was onto Anthony from the day he entered the NBA. He killed Linsanity. I knew he would.

          1. Anthony is not jealous of Jeremy Lin’s global fame, according to the source. Lin, the source said, is Anthony’s favorite teammate

            what a ponce.

        1. The best part of all of this is that not that long ago, I heard people saying that the Knicks could end up with the third seed in the East. The third seed. As of this morning, they are out of the top eight and 9 1/2 games behind Orlando for the third seed.

        2. Also, I really enjoy the part of that article that tries to say its totally D'Antoni's fault when his entire argument boils down to: Two noted malcontent's cause problems with team unity.

    2. wow

@WojYahooNBA: Mike D'Antoni has resigned as New York Knicks coach, a source tells Y! Sports.

  1. Free agent reliever Michael Wuertz says his tryout will be early next week with plans to be finalized in the next day, tweets Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN Minneapolis. The Twins are expected to attend.

  2. I may have made mention here before but a close friend of mine moved to Minneapolis this past year. In addition to his day job he also writes/sings/plays songs. He is playing SXSW this week followed by doing his first jaunt through the midwest. And wouldn't you believe he is playing in many citizens home towns.

3/23: Acadia Cafe, Minneapolis, MN (8:00)
3/25: Vaudville Mews, DesMoines, IA (9:00)
3/27: Barley St. Tavern, Omaha, NE (9:00)
3/30: Elbo Room, Chicago, IL (Doors 7, 8:00 sharp)
3/31: Indie Coffee, Madison, WI (7:00)
    4/18: GingerHop, Minneapolis, MN (8:00)

I will probably post reminders for the Minneapolis shows. You can learn move about my pal here.

    1. The Acadia Cafe is a cool little place to watch live music, especially the singer/songwriter type. Restored old building with big windows fronting on Main Street and perfect views of downtown. They have a nice selection of local and craft beers as well.

  3. I was invited to do a lecture at LSU this week, and the kind folks took me out afterword to a local pub. I was shocked (SHOCKED) to find Porterhouse Oyster Stout on the bottle list. It's not quite the same experience, but still extremely tasty.

  4. I just spent about ten minutes choosing a name for my bracket. Needless to say I probably won't spend that long on the actual picks.

    1. I love how you spent 10 minutes thinking about your bracket name and then it gets cutoff for having too many characters.

    2. Can someone shoot me an email with the whereabouts of this bracket? I've been away for a bit, and I don't know where to look.

  5. Just got back from Mexico last night (sorry CoC, Spooky led you astray, I wasn't in Hawai'i). It was very nice to unplug completely from phone, email, and internet and just relax for a week. Plus free food and drinks never hurt the experience. Thank you to everyone who suggested activities when I had inquired earlier this year. Lots of good times were had.

  6. Another beautiful spring day here in Omerha. Used it as an excuse to drive the Herald convertible to work this morning. That and the fact that the Suzuki POS is in the shop again.

      1. They actually made a lot more hardtop Heralds than convertibles. Not many were every sold in this country though.

    1. Beautiful 80F here in StL as well, although my "house arrest" due to oak pollen looks like it will be starting a couple weeks earlier than usual. And the forsythia is blooming, which means the crabgrass preventer goes down in the next couple days.

      1. Rain, rain, and more rain here. I wish it would move into the Sierras and dump a jagillion inches of snow already.

  7. Ricky Rubio seems like a cool dude to hang with

Good morning.Beautiful day here in Minnesota. My knee is feeling better. In this video u can see how I can go to shopping

  8. slow news day for the locals:

Solo vehicle accident on Hwy. 16 caused by rabbit or cat
    Published By Daily Democrat
    Created: 03/14/2012 12:30:38 AM PDT

The California Highway Patrol reported a solo vehicle accident on eastbound Hwy. 16 on Monday.

The accident occurred at 3 a.m. on eastbound Hwy. 16, just east of County Road 82B. According to the CHP Quynh V. Truong, 29, of Woodland, was driving a 2006 Lincoln Towncar when for unknown reasons, he left the roadway and struck a dirt ditch resulting in moderate damage to the vehicle.

The CHP report indicates that Truong swerved to avoid a large rabbit or cat, struck the ditch and spun and struck the side near the wheel well.

    1. Wow... Mad Men beat Lost. No way that would've happened pre Season 6 of Lost. The ending to that show really derailed it.

I hope the winner is Breaking Bad. Sons of Anarchy should've been on the list. Twin Peaks? Seriously? Expand the bracket!

      1. That would have happened regardless. Lost is fun...lots of fun...but it doesn't touch Mad Men for drama.

I also strongly disagree that the ending derailed it, though I did guess the ending within three episodes of the last season, at most.

      2. I just finished Twin Peaks a couple weeks ago--I thought it was incredible. The second season is not nearly as bad as it's made out to be (that is, I rather liked it) and the final episode was amazing. Breaking Bad vs. Twin Peaks reminds me why I hate these things--I think they're both great, why should there be a "winner"?

        1. Twin Peaks is still a big favorite of mine. While it drifted for quite a while in season 2, it was such a refreshingly different show at that time (well, it STILL is)

    2. Wow, the only two shows in the bracket we've ever watched are X-Files and Twin Peaks. And where the heck is Homicide Life on the Streets? Better than anything there in my limited experience.

      1. I'm a big Homicide:LOTS guy, but the characters are comically shallow compared to The Wire when David Simon no longer had to appease the network execs. Luther Mahoney would be laughed out of The Wire.

Also, I loved season 6 of Lost. It might have been my favorite season and the episode with Richard Alpert's history might have been my favorite episode. I think the season is criminally underrated, but overall the show (mainly because of the problems of seasons 2 and 3 when there was way too much Kate/Jack nonsense) doesn't measure up to Mad Men.

        1. Haven't seen Mad Men, but totally agree about the Lost seasons you mention. Honestly, if you just took Seasons 1, second half of 3, & 4-6, I don't know that anything can really compare. Especially since I love the philosophy behind the show.

  9. Cuddy is 5-for-2 with a billion HRs and saved a kid that fell off the bleachers and choked on a hotdog.

@JoeCStrib: Morneau is 0-for-3 with 2 Ks today. Facing same pitchers -- Halladay and Papelbon -- Parmelee is 2-for-2 with a 1B, HR and a BB.

    1. I hate this sort of thing with such a burning passion. Sure, I'm worried about Morneau and we might just get stuck with Parmelee because Morneau's not really healthy yet. But the implication here that today's results are anything more than Parmelee having a better day than Morneau--who knows? Has this JoeCStrib ever followed a baseball team before?

  10. Call for participants in a pod to be recorded Sunday. Details to be confirmed, but recording time is slated to be approx. noon Central/6PM Cesky time. We'll make this one a spring training pod, with a T'Wolves/NBA pod tentative for the very near future (next week maybe?).

Spooky said he's game, looking for 2-4 more. I think it would be fairest that those who haven't participate yet get first dibs.

    1. damn. i'd be in, but i'll be trying my damnest not to tip into the green river right about then.

    2. When is this going to happen. I"d love to be on a podcast.

Though I can't guarantee cutting edge commentary

  11. so, my buddy posted a picture of him and some homeless guy on FB. i then read the caption and saw that he had actually bumped into jeff tweedy in customs at o'hare.

    1. A friend of mine had a similar experience with a homeless guy who went to Yom Kippur services at his temple in a sweatsuit before realizing it was Robert Zimmerman.

    1. As much as I don't like Crawford, he's gotta be better than Wes, right? I think this is worth a shot.

  12. Rodney Williams THREW DOWN from inside the free throw line. oh my gosh, thats gotta be one of the top dunks of the year. Absolutely posterized a LaSalle dude

  13. Chelsea on to final 8 in Champions League! Only EPL team remaining. Chelsea down by 3-1 going into today's match and they outscore Napoli 4-1 to move on. In case you were wondering.

  14. Knicks change coaches, proceed to destroy the only NBA team more disappointingly dysfunctional* than they are.

*The Wizards, for instance, might well be more dysfunctional than anyone, but I doubt anyone expected/hoped they wouldn't be.
