  1. All of our friends are due here in the next 15-30 minutes for a full Irish Breakfast (for lunch) and general merrymaking. And Ireland plays England tonight in rugby. I have 100Kč* on the lads.

    *Approx $5USD

  2. awesome.

oh, well, can't be buggered. heading downtown to watch them continue to do irreparable harm to the local ecosystem watch them dye the river green in an environmentally benign manner.

  3. I'm in Minnesota for two weeks starting on the 21st, and at the very least, the first weekend will be reserved for WGOM/CdL hangouts. Any ideas on where to go (Surly on tap would be nice) and what night to do things? Otherwise, I'll just make a decision and hope people can be around.

    1. I'd definitely be up for something on the 23rd or 24th in the evening.

I never go out and live in the suburbs so the "where to go" part will have to come from someone else. I'd prefer uptown or south Mpls over downtown.

  4. Twins travel team with the early lead on Ozzie's Fish thanks to Danny Boy's HR on St. Patty's Day.

  5. Saving my Irish for tomorrow. I will braise a corned beef in Apple cider in the crock, then finish it by roasting in the oven. Use the crock liquor to cook potatoes, carrots and cabbage. I am slavering already.

But for today, it's homemade chicken soup. The boy has a bad cold.

  6. Carlos Silva released by the Red Sox. I'm so glad the Mariners saved the Twins from themselves in 2007.

  7. Pavano was one out from throwing five shutout innings. However, an infield single was followed by a two-out, two-strike, two-run HR by Hanley Ramirez. Twins down 2-1 and give up hope by bringing in Alex Burnett.

    1. Thirteen hits for the Twins! Of course, four are from minor league lifer Mike Hollimon, but it's still nice to see it in the box score.

        1. Today will be a victory for classy logos and uniforms.

I think I'll become a casual Mike Hollimon supporter, too. I'm a sucker for guys who flounder in the minors forever and manage to carve out a niche and have a real career in the bigs. He hasn't been up in the majors since an 11-game stint with the Tigers in 2008.

          1. I'm guessing his intentional walk in a ML spring training game is the one he'll remember from this game. He's hitting .571 this spring.

          2. He played the entire game at second. Would the Twins be happy with Casilla as the only true backup for Carroll? Could Holliman win the utility role over Nishi? My dream is Dozier wins the SS job with Carroll going to second and Casilla being the utility guy, but I have little hope of that happening before June. Reports on Nishi this spring have not been good.

          1. Oh, right, it was "universe." Guess I should have taken a little more time with that one.

How about if I said "Well, nobody accused Red Sox Nation of being well-versed in science?" Is it too late to say that?

  8. So, I bought a new PC (yes that one, Spooks) finally after putting off replacing the last one for a couple years. Set it up during a thunderstorm.

  9. So we had to take our littlest Boston in to the vet today, it seems he has an abscessed anal gland. They lanced it and now we have to follow him around all day and make sure he's not draining on the furniture or anything else important. Oh, and I know I'm definitely in the minority here but On, Wisconsin, On, Wisconsin!

  10. He does get it.

"I did get a lot of groundballs but I had a tough time putting guys away and making pitches with two strikes," Pavano said. "Fortunately I got some good plays behind me like Ryan Doumit in right and Danny (Valencia) made some great plays down the line."
