Minor Details: Games of 4/22

ROCHESTER 3, LEHIGH VALLEY 2 IN ROCHESTER

Batting starsMatt Carson was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.  Ben Revere was 2-for-4 and scored twice.

Pitching starsScott Diamond allowed two unearned runs on four hits and no walks in seven innings.  Casey Fien worked two shutout innings, giving up just one hit.

Opposition star:  Raul Valdes pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit.

Key inning:  The third.  Leading 1-0, Ray Chang and Ben Revere opened the inning with singles.  Brian Dozier reached on an error to load the bases.  Carson hit a sacrifice fly to make the score 2-0 and Joe Benson got an infield hit to make it 3-0.

Other:  The Red Wings have already won as many games (nine) as the won in the month of April last year.  Game-time temperature in Rochester was thirty-nine degrees.  The game postponed Saturday will be made up July 8.

NEW HAMPSHIRE AT NEW BRITAIN

ST. LUCIE 9, FORT MYERS 8 IN ST. LUCIE

Batting starsOswaldo Arcia was 4-for-5 with a triple and a home run, his first.  Jairo Perez was 3-for-5 with two doubles.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Daniel Muno was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, driving in three.  Robbie Shields was 3-for-4.

Key inning:  The fifth.  The Miracle led 6-0, and Pat Dean had allowed only two hits through four innings.  With one out in the fifth, the Mets went walk, single, double, double, homer, making the score 6-5.  The Mets went on to take an 8-7 lead in the seventh and win on Muno’s RBI double in the ninth.

Other:  Fort Myers made only one error, but it was a costly one, leading to three unearned runs in the seventh.

WEST MICHIGAN 6, BELOIT 3 IN WEST MICHIGAN

Batting starsEddie Rosario was 3-for-4 with a double, driving in two.  Jonathan Goncalves and Rory Rhodes each went 2-for-4 with a double.

Pitching starMadison Boer gave up two runs on three hits and two walks in 6.2 innings.

Opposition stars:  Eugenio Suarez was 2-for-4 with a home run, driving in three.  Steven Moya was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Key inning:  The eighth.  The Snappers led 3-2 going into the inning.  Ryan O’Rourke gave up a three-run homer to Suarez to put the Whitecaps in the lead, and three singles led to another run.

Other:  Beloit out-hit West Michigan 11-8.
