Pitching star: Esmerling Vasquez worked 1.2 innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits.
Opposition stars: Nate Spears was 3-for-3 with two doubles. Mauro Gomez was 2-for-4 with a double.
Key inning: The eighth. Trailing 6-5, the Red Sox had two out and none on. A single and an error put runners on second and third. Anthony Slama came in and gave up a double to Gomez to give Pawtucket the lead the would never relinquish.
READING 10, NEW BRITAIN 3 IN NEW BRITAIN
Batting stars: Wilkin Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a home run. Chris Herrmann was 3-for-5 with a double.
Pitching star: Bobby Lanigan struck out four in two shutout innings, allowing one hit.
Opposition stars: Steve Susdorf was 3-for-5. Darin Ruf was 2-for-4 with a double and a grand slam, driving in six.
Key inning: The third. In a scoreless tie, the Phillies loaded the bases on a walk and two singles. Ruf then hit his slam to put Reading ahead 4-0. The game was never again any closer than that.
FORT MYERS 12, DUNEDIN 11 IN DUNEDIN
Batting stars: Oswaldo Arcia was 4-for-5 with two doubles and a home run, his second. He drove in four. Lance Ray was 3-for-4 with two doubles. Daniel Ortiz was 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Daniel Santana and Michael Gonzales each homered.
Pitching star: Bruce Pugh struck out two in two shutout innings, allowing two hits.
Opposition stars: Kevin Nolan was 3-for-5 with two doubles. Jake Marisnick was 2-for-6 with a double and a triple. Boomer Potts struck out three in two shutout innings.
Key inning: The third. Trailing 7-3, the Miracle struck for seven runs. They opened the inning with a single, a double, and Arcia’s three run homer. The rally was not killed, as with one out, a double, a single, and a Gonzales three run homer gave Fort Myers the lead. The rally still was not dead, as Santana followed with a two out homer to give the Miracle a 10-7 lead.
BELOIT 6, PEORIA 5 IN PEORIA
Batting stars: Eddie Rosario was 2-for-5 with his second home run of the year, driving in three. Adam Pettersen was 2-for-4 with a walk.
Pitching star: Tim Shibuya gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks in five innings.
Opposition stars: Rafael Lopez was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Marco Hernandez was 2-for-4 with a double.
Key inning: The ninth. Leading 5-4, the Snappers put together three singles to make the score 6-4. The Chiefs opened the bottom of the inning with a pair of singles. A sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly made it 6-5 with the tying run on third with two out. Clint Dempster entered the game and fanned Ryan Cuneo to end it.
