NEW BRITAIN 10, HARRISBURG 3 IN NEW BRITAIN
Batting stars: Rene Tosoni was 3-for-5 and drove in two. Matt Rizzotti was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and drove in two. Evan Bigley was 2-for-4 with a homer and drove in two.
Pitching star: Steve Hirschfeld gave up two runs on nine hits and no walks in seven innings.
Opposition stars: Tim Pahuta was 2-for-4 with two solo homers. Chris McConnell was 2-for-4 with a double. Chris Rahl was 2-for-4.
Key inning: The second. In a scoreless tie, the Senators scored once to take a 1-0 lead. The Rock Cats came back with seven in the bottom of the second. They had five singles and three doubles in the inning. There was no one big blow; runs were driven in by six different players.
DAYTONA 16, FORT MYERS 7 IN FORT MYERS
Batting stars: Daniel Ortiz was 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple, driving in three. Josmil Pinto was 2-for-4 with a home run, driving in three.
Pitching star: Dakota Watts allowed one run on two hits in three innings.
Opposition stars: Ronald Torreyes was 4-for-5 with two doubles. Greg Rohan was 3-for-6 with two doubles. Tony Zych retired all seven men he faced.
Key inning: The fifth. The Cubs had already scored six in the second and led 6-2. In the fifth, however, Daytona scored eight times to put the game out of reach. The big blow was a three run homer by Micah Gibbs.
Other: Ricky Bowen, Pat Dean, Josmil Pinto, and Daniel Santana were named to the FSL All-star team. The game will be played June 16.
BELOIT 11, QUAD CITIES 5 IN QUAD CITIES
Batting stars: JaDamion Williams was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run (his first), driving in four. Drew Leachman was 3-for-5. Matthew Koch was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fourth), scoring three times.
Pitching star: David Hurlbut struck out five in four shutout innings of relief, surrendering only two hits.
Opposition stars: Collin Walsh was 2-for-4 with a home run, driving in three. Anthony Garcia was 2-for-4 with a double. Ethan Cole worked two shutout innings.
Key inning: The third. Already ahead 4-0, the Snappers scored four times. A single, a walk, and a single plated one run; Williams then hit a three run homer to kill the rally.
Other: Those Funny Little People will be appearing in Quad Cities tonight as part of a Christmas in June promotion.
