I told him that I'd forget.
I hope this game is played at a faster pace than the first two. I have fallen asleep before the games have ended.
Well, at least there was only one runner on this time.
That one went a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way.
the smile Denard Span gives at the end of his 'sorta deep thought' promo cracks me up
Oy, the steroids reference is pretty hilarious.
Nice to see a return of the old school 2010 season F-Bomb K graphics
I was thinking the game logs have been lacking K pics, but then again Twins pitchers dont strike out too many people. But I found this graphic in a Photobucket folder
Denard Span's walk up music here is Guns N Roses 'Sweet Child O Mine'. weird.
I think if the O's pitcher was a lefty, Revere's hit might have gotten through.
I'm here. Gameday on FF is still MIA, however.
clear your cache. reboot. reinstall.
only two of those are options at work. Here, I suppose. But still doesn't make much sense.
was joking. standard customer service responses
Ha.
I have considered turning it off and back on, and checking to make sure that it is plugged into teh Interwebz.
Not working for me on Chrome.
every one of those is like money in the Pohlad's pockets.
change the 'f' to '$' ?
MAK IT HAPPON!
WOW, that was a blast
mmm, Pork.
Willinghammer!
Still not missing Cuddyer.
Sounds like if/when Liriano is traded, Butera needs to go with to keep him operating at maximum efficiency.
I'm fine with that.
depends on how much we have to throw in for that to happen.
I dont know if the Twins can bite that bullet and part ways with Butera. I mean, who is going to catch Pavano when he gets back?
Evening, gents.
Suck it, nibbish!
That route was Delmonesque.
thanks, Dazz. "If you say `Hall of Fame ring' you're caught up in yourself."
uh huh. said by the guy who needs a ticket to the HOF.
mmm, leftover beef ribs.
100 pitches through 5 2/3? Oy.
And only 47 lte.
Something something inefficiency something.
Frankie was great again today. Hopefully he gets the win.
Hopefully he gets the win a contract extension.
FTFM. I'm going to be crushed if they trade him.
I would like to see Frankie back next year as well, but I wont be surprised when he's playing for someone else next week.
After the string of starts he's had since coming back from the bullpen and the amount he would make in arbitration, I'd be amazed if he's not gone in the next couple weeks. Hopefully Terry Ryan gets a couple decent prospects for him.
I don't. He's not worth the risk. I hope he keeps this up long enough so the Twins can get some good prospects for him.
I don't have enough faith that any prospects they get for him will actually be decent.
But remember, this is Ryan doing the trading. He got Liriano in the first place, so hopefully he can work his magic again.
Yeah, I assume Ryan would be a better GM to orchestrate a trade than Wild Bill, but my concern is more that the Twins will get lowballed. If you assume they just let him walk after the year, sure I guess you get whatever you can get.
But given the serious lack of potential top of the rotation arms in the Twins' system and the massive holes in the rotation next year, if I was running the show I'd keep him around. The team desperately needs good pitching if they're going to right the ship, and Liriano could be that guy. I'd rather they risk $10 million a year for a few years on Liriano than they flush $5 million per year down the drain on mediocre veteran inning eaters.
How can it be a great bunt if it was an out, Dick?
Fiendish inning. Is he for realsies?
In the minors, he had a 8.9 K/9 and 2.1 BB/9. He was a little old for each level and spent forever at AAA, but it seems like he could be a decent/good reliever at the major league level.
We did pizza on the grill and a couple of gin and tonics tonight to ease the pain.
when you make pizza on the grill, do you use a pre made dough, or do you slap a fresh dough on there?
I never use pre-made dough. Homemade is really easy to do.
Just go really light on the toppings and work fast.
I use the mark bittman recipe for dough:
3 cups flour
2 tsp salt (kosher is actually better here)
1 tsp rapid rise yeast
2 tbs olive oil
And then I add a healthy dose of garlic powder, dried oregano, a dash of pepper, and a bunch of parmasean cheese.
Add between 1 and 1 1/4 cups of warm water and mix until you have a firm, not sticky, dough. Cover and let rise for at least an hour. Split the dough into two equal parts and press into 14(ish) rounds. I par bake on tinfoil to make the transition to the grill easier, and then I watch the dough carefully to ensure I don't char it too much. Top the side you just browned with sauce, or just plain ole olive oil, meat, cheese, veg and return the pie to the grill to melt the cheese and brown the bottom of the crust. Don't over do the toppings or the pie will be soggy.
And when you make the gin and tonics, do you always use fresh limes?
Yes
Evening all.
Howdy.
Hello from LA.
you AND meat in Louisiana?? /I know, I know
Yo, Southie.
What, no Butters?!
Donuts are better than Butters.
My hands were full of grease, but I still nearly got to typing when Dazz was bloviating about how great it is to have three catchers on the roster so that they can pinch-hit for Butters.
Bloviate is one of my three favorite words in the English language - and I'm not even sure what the other two are. Perhaps "pusillanimous."
I used to sing that to my first two kids when I would dry their hair after baths.
"Why why why baby dig a digga be my friend
ding a ding dang a dong ooooaaaaooooo
I wanna love you"
I need to remember to sing that to the younger two. Then, when they're all older and going through their 90's industrial phase (I assume every kid does at some point, right?) they'll think, hey, this is familiar. Wait a minute, why was Dad singing this to us?
Not sure how I missed that; it wasn't like this thread had a zillion LTEs to read. But thanks for the thumbnail stats, sounds more encouraging than I thought for a 28-year old.
I did post the linked-to-LTE a minute before yours, so easy to miss.

Another Ministry fan, I see.
It's a love affair.
Mainly Jesus and my hot rod.

Also, have you ever heard this version?
Baseball is a crazy game. After scoring 25 runs in the first two games of this series, the Twins have one run in seven innings against Tommy Hunter.
So, is Fien going to be a fienomenal addition to the bullpen? He's certainly off to a great start since he's been called up.
I think so.
Not sure how I missed that; it wasn't like this thread had a zillion LTEs to read. But thanks for the thumbnail stats, sounds more encouraging than I thought for a 28-year old.

The Dunce is back in the pen?
Yes.
Also from the link: "Capps out indefinitely after undergoing MRI".
Shit, if the twins medical staff says that he's out indefinitely I'll be surprised to find out that the dude is still breathing.
Well, I like Dunce better in the bullpen than starting, but I like a tree stump better than Blackbum as a starter.
speaking of which, I was passed on I-5 on the way home tonight by a car with an "M Blckbrn" vanity plate. Omen?
I didn't know any Blackburn could go fast.
I was going 65 in a 70.
rally time
Did he just say FIRST strikeout for Hunter?
ball in play is the new market inefficiency
bS likes this
The Twins just needed to feed Hunter a K....
do you try a double steal?
Mauer hitting with two one and one out? I don't know if calling a base hit here could even be considered "spookying".
you gotta IBB Willingham here
Productive.
Not a great game for Mauer. He'd hit better if he were catching.
I saw the stat in the CoC, though that was C vs. 1B. Let me go look up his DH OPS... (I assume it will be somewhere between those two extremes)
This year: .315/.393/.413/.806
Career: .317/.409/.435/.844
You are the Raylan Givens of stats, Sean.
The Alton Brown of statlines
THAT one I get.
I read that as "saltines" at first glance.
Mauer as a DH this year: 315/393/413 OPS of .806
*points at 1.0+ OPS as catcher*
I like Canadian salami.
crax. that might have been the last gasp. Who is the O's closer now?
Jim Johnson, who the Twins touched for 4 runs on Monday. Plouffe and Doumit are coming to bat so not all is lost.
rats
FSN flashed the AL Central standings, and wow I didnt realized Kansas City is in free fall mode. Twins only a half game back.
yeah, this has got to be a bunt
yeah, this has got to be a BAD bunt
FTFM
Puntoesque bunt.
ack. Disappointing outcome after the start to this series, and another nice performance by Frankie.
Last two games: 14 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 4 BB, 25 SO, and 2 L. Also, since moving back to the rotation, that was just his third home run given up.
Like I said, music to the Pohlads'
earswallets.Liriano just doesnt know how to win.
well, still can win the series tomorrow afternoon
A terrible bunt, a shitty baserunning error, and a two hopper to third. Ahhh, I remember why this team sucks.
Obviously when a team can't get anything going against Tommy freaking Hunter they don't deserve to win. But sigh.
I don't think the Twins' whole team went in the tank after 25 runs the last two games. Even bad pitchers have good games occasionally.
frackin' A. first inning runs carry the game.
Amazing how Liriano can't get any run support as soon as Butera becomes his personal catcher.
A strong outing for Liriano. If the Twins continue to hold the other team to two runs a game, they'll be fine. We'll just have to settle for 109-53!
