  1. Maybe you knew this, but I just noticed that Pat Neshek is having a really good year. In AAA for Baltimore, he went 3-2, 2.66, 1.11 WHIP. He struck out 49, walked 7, and gave up only one home run in 44 innings. Sold to Oakland a month ago and kept in the majors, he's 1-1, 0.87, 0.77 WHIP in 10.1 innings. He has struck out 13, walked 3 (one intentional) and given up one home run. Could he finally be back?

    1. Yay for him, and the Neshek button might be used to keep the Yanks and Scioscias out of the playoffs.

  2. working at the golf course this morning (those greens dont cut themselves!), I saw a dude wearing a Pavano shirt/jersey (shirsey? jert?). Even though he was over the hill and couldnt strike anyone out, I miss seeing Pavano pitch.

    1. I looked over the 75 pct off jerseys at the fair. Thought about a kube-snack, but declined. Had family pictures with cutouts of Joe and Justin for free instead.

      1. I do, too, but I had to "archive" and reopen our main checking account when it stopped reconciling. Certain transactions gave different amounts when checked or unchecked. Now today I tried to make an adjustment to shares in one of our 401(k) funds, and it totally made it more difficult than it needed to be.

        1. The investment stuff can definitely have its issues. I haven't had many problems with checking accounts. I'm sure there is an easy way to show a mortgage refinance but I haven't figured out the easy way yet.

          1. Mortgage refinance? Done many of them. It shows up like a transfer between your old mortgage account and escrow and your new mortgage account and escrow, with a lot of split items going to Schedule A items and mystery fees.

Our main checking account in Quicken (a tax-free money market account) had approaching 6000 transactions when I closed it up and opened a new one.

    1. Yikes. He had a heart attack a week before I did and never recovered. Must have been one hell of a heart attack.

    2. That's horrible. He hadn't come anywhere near the success he had in The Green Mile, but I always held out hope that he'd show up in a great movie again. He was still acting regularly, and did a lot of voice work.

      Ugh. I really liked him.

    3. He also participated in baseball history. From the Repository:

In 1979, he participated in the Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey Park, home of the Chicago White Sox: he was among the first 100 people to run onto the field and he slid into third base. During the ensuing riot his silver belt buckle was stolen[6] while he was stealing a baseball bat from the dugout.

  3. Sounds like Slama's getting the Chuck James treatment.
Sometimes, I wish I were a fan of another team.

      1. That's like replying to "I hate getting lemon juice in my paper cuts" with "You could always cut off your arm!"

        1. Man, this guy is spiking the mic terribly

Edit: Not that I should complain too much. After all, I am listening to a Rookie Ball radio broadcast from 800 miles away via the internet.

  4. 8-9-1 batters for Eton in the bottom of the 12th:
    Altobelli C .233/.277/.262
    Jimenez RF .347/.439/.669
    Pimentel CF .330/.405/.419

What is Jimenez doing batting 9th?

    1. I'll leave the recap for the Padre. Three extra-inning games in a three-game championship series.
Wow, whichever way it goes/went down. I'm off to sleep.
