ARAGUA 4, CARACAS 2 IN CARACAS

Twins:  Oswaldo Arcia was 0-for-4, scoring once and striking out twice.  Josmil Pinto was 0-for-1 as a reserve.

Game summary:  Aragua scored all four runs in the ninth, overcoming a 2-0 Caracas lead.  Jose Martinez (Houston) hit a two-run double and Jonel Pacheco delivered a two-run single.

Aragua:  Martinez was 2-for-4.  Seth Etherton struck out six in four shutout innings.

Caracas:  Scott Carroll (White Sox) worked five shutout innings, allowing three hits.

MARGARITA 7, ANZOATEGUI 6 IN ANZOATEGUI

Twins:  Aaron Hicks was 3-for-5 with a double, driving in one.  Sean Burroughs was 2-for-5 and scored once.

Game summary:  Margarita scored five in the sixth to turn a 4-2 deficit in to a 7-4 lead, then held on.

Margarita:  Jackson Melian was 2-for-4 with a double.

Anzoategui:  Alexi Amarista (San Diego) was 2-for-3 with two walks, scoring twice and driving in one.  Jose Alvarez (Miami) struck out four in 2.2 scoreless innings.

LARA 8, LA GUAIRA 1 IN LARA

Game summary:  Lara scored two in the first and four in the third to take a 6-0 lead.  The big hit was a three-run homer in the third by Luis Jimenez (Seattle).

La Guaira:  Javier Herrera was 2-for-3 with a walk.

Lara:  Tyson Gillies was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring twice.  Oswaldo Navarro (Mets) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in one.

ZULIA 9, MAGALLANES 1 IN MAGALLANES

Game summary:  Zulia scored seven runs in the third and was never threatened.

Zulia:  Jose Flores (San Francisco) was 3-for-4 with a walk, driving in one.  Ernesto Mejia (Atlanta) was 3-for-5 with a three-run homer, scoring twice.

Magallanes:  Gabriel Alfaro struck out three in two perfect innings.

Game summary:  Mario Valenzuela homered in the eighth to break a 2-2 tie.

Guasave:  Valenzuela was 2-for-4.  Jesus Cota was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Los Mochis:  Saul Soto hit a home run.

MEXICALI 4 HERMOSILLO 2 IN MEXICALI

Game summary:  Mexicali scored a pair of runs in each of the first two innings.

Hermosillo:  Trent Oeltjen was 2-for-4 with a double.  Todd Cunningham doubled and walked twice.

Mexicali:  Chris Roberson was 3-for-4 with a double.  Sergio Mitre struck out four in five shutout innings.

CULIACAN 6, MAZATLAN 5 IN CULIACAN

Game summary:  Cory Aldridge (Angels) hit a three-run homer for Culiacan in the seventh to break a 3-3 tie, then the Tomateros held on to win.

Mazatlan:  J. T. Wise (Dodgers) was 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, and an RBI.  Ivan Terrazas hit a two-run homer.

Culiacan:  Marlon Byrd was 2-for-4 with a double.  Alfonso Sanchez worked 2.2 scoreless innings.

OBREGON 9, NAVOJOA 2 IN OBREGON

Game summary:  Obregon put the game away with a six-run fourth.

Navojoa:  Francisco Arias was 2-for-4 with a double.  Alejandro Soto pitched 2.1 scoreless innings.

Obregon:  Willy Taveras was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.  Iker Franco was 2-for-2 with two walks.
