ARAGUA 3, MARGARITA 2 IN ARAGUA

TwinsSean Burroughs (Margarita) was 0-for-4.  Oswaldo Arica (Aragua) was 0-for-4.  Dakota Watts (Aragua) struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks.

Game summary:  Carlos Colmenares doubled in the go-ahead run in the seventh.

Margarita:  Wilmer Flores (Mets) was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.  Boof Bonser (San Francisco) gave up two runs on six hits and no walks in six innings.

Aragua:  Colmenares was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once.  Carlos Hernandez (Oakland) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk in six innings, striking out five.

MAGALLANES 12, LA GUAIRA 11 IN MAGALLANES

TwinsDeolis Guerra (Magallanes) retired both men he faced to close out the game.

Game summary:  Magallanes scored seven runs in the fourth to take a 10-5 lead, then held on.  La Guaira had the tying run on first with one out, but a caught stealing ended the threat.

La Guaira:  Scott Van Slyke (Dodgers) was 3-for-5 with three doubles, scoring twice and driving in one.  Alex Cabrera was 2-for-5 with a double and a home run, scoring twice.

Magallanes:  Erold Andrus was 3-for-6 with a double, scoring once and driving in four.  Leslie Anderson (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in two.

ANZOATEGUI 1, LARA 0 IN ANZOATEGUI (7 INNINGS—RAIN)

TwinsEduardo Escobar (Anzoategui) was used as a reserve and was 0-for-1.

Game summary:  Gorkys Hernandez doubled in the game’s lone run in the fifth.

Lara:  Jarrett Grube (Angels) gave up one run on five hits and a walk in 4.2 innings.  Joe Thurston was 1-for-1 with two walks.

Anzoategui:  Renyel Pinto pitched five innings, allowing three hits and two walks.  Luis Nunez (Dodgers) was 2-for-2 with a double and scored once.

CARACAS 6, ZULIA 3 IN CARACAS

Game summary:  Caracas scored three in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie.

Zulia:  Henry Rodiguez (Cincinnati) was 3-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one.  Sandy Leon (Washington) was 2-for-4 with a home run.

Caracas:  Brandon Barnes (Houston) was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.  Angel Calero struck out three in three shutout innings.
